I'm buying a 2000 560 Sea Ray Sedan Cruiser with 3128 Cat's and I'm trying to find out what the fuel consumption is at different RPM's is there anyone that can help me?

Michael:

Just go to www.slavetomyboat.com and they should have the numbers!! LOL!! I've never seen the numbers for a 560 posted anywhere, and I did a lot of research when I bought my 400 EC. My guess is, with the price of oil now higher than beer, you would be better to keep a 560 in it's berth this summer!

(I am insanely jealous so don't take my humor to heart - If I could afford a 560 I'd buy one regardless of fuel costs!!)

Enjoy your beautiful new boat!!!

All the best,
-gb

You say 3128 Cats, they never made them and a 560 would never come with 3126 Cats. A 560 could have 3196 Cats, but they wouldn't be 800 HP as noted in your profile. Maybe 3406 Cats are what you are talking about?

A little clarification would be a great help.

It should have these....

Not to hjack the thread but wow, I know the fuel consumption of one C-16 Cat (comparable to a 3406) in my Peterbilt. I can only immagine having 2 of em and fueling them for fun. Makes me jealous. What the hell though. God bless thoes who can.

The 3406e engines that are probably that boat burn 80 gph at full throttle, 64 gph at cruise (about 29 - 30 mph) but only 2 gph at trawler speed. So really depends on how you're going to be using the boat. I love mine!

I think Earthmover17 has the 3196's. The other option would be the MAN engines.

The 3406e is comparable to the C-15. It is a very proven engine with many road miles in transport truck applications. The same block is also used in the newer C-18.

Michael,
They're undoubtedly 3406E series engine. The 3406 comes with multiple ratings. The E series is the "High Performance" 800 HP version typical of "planing hull vessels such as pleasure craft, harbor patrol, harbor master, adn some fishing and pilot boats"

TA is, I think, the aspiration rating. The full acronym for this engine is 3406E DITA.

Here is some information that I have on my 540 CPMY with 3406s
900 rpm 6gph
1800 rpm 38 gph (cruise)
2300 rpm 67.2 gpm

My C-12s (upgraded 3196s) burn about 45 gph at cruise speed 1900 rpm. I would expect that the 560 should get about the same results. Under all conditions I average about 34 gallons per hour. As another point of reference Salt 'n Sand displaces 31 tons when traveling, that is about 6 tons above Sea Rays stated weight.

Mr. Salt - just for clarification, you have C-12's, right? Those would not be 3406's as you reference in your post. 3406's are C-15's and consequently, the fuel burn numbers are higher (unfortunately).
