55DA - 580DA electrical systems

I will be looking at a 08' 55DA & 10' 580DA later in the week.

1) noticed from some online photos, seems the 580DA master power center is in a different location from the 08'/09'55DA. Did they change something along the way?

2) also read about upgraded switching modules on the 55DA, can anyone shine some light on that change?

They may have eliminated the e-plex system by '10 - I know they did in the 36db by '09.....

I'm sure that you'll get lots of thoughts and opinions on Eplex systems on these model boats.
I don't remember when Sea Ray stopped using Eplex (Sea Ray Customer Service can probably tell you). I can verify that by the 2012 model year there weren't Eplex's installed.
I was advised strongly to stay away from them as they had multiple problems early on then the supplier was sold which made replacement parts and service a problem. I have heard of people recently discovering a fix to replace modules etc. which seems to have made the boats usable.
Good luck with your hunt, these model boats are great running machines and are some of the last ones before the euro designs.

Thanks for the information on the electrical system. Appears they
changed with the 580 version.
Can you pass along your cruise settings - rpm/knots/fuel burn
for the 900's .

Have more information after talking with Sea Ray customer service. Some late number 2009 55DA's were built without E-Plex.
