With the circuit breaker on measure Ac supply voltage across L1 and L2, sometimes called Line 1 input and Line 2 input. One of the blue triplex wires is from the circuit breaker and the other supplies power to the raw water pump. That voltage should be 220 VAC. If you have power at the board and the green LED is not lit then seems like the board has malfunctioned.
Funny you should ask - just today the insurance company sent me a message and concurred with all of the trouble shooting and estimates. Cummins will be replacing all of the electrical on the engines, generator, and helm systems; seems that is SOP for lightening strikes. All of the navigation, monitors, instrumentation, and wiring are to be replaced. Audio systems, LED's, dimmers, two of the HVAC systems and on and on. Haul out in a couple of weeks for transducers and full hull inspection. So, I'll take this opportunity to throw some additional money at it for some upgrades as long as everything is apart. The damage was extensive and I'm happy to report it will be fully repaired.Hey Tom - haven't seen an update in a while - how's the lightning strike damage coming?
Seems quite a few purchase parts from flightsystems.com. I default to have our local Dometic service rep provide parts or do the work.Just checked, there is power. So looks like the board is no good. Any chance you know where to purchase one?
Yes. Exact same numbers as you stated. Engines do not like to run at that 1400 to 1800rpm range. More RPM means more air and cooler EGT.Anyone with pyrometers notice the harder you push, the lower the EGT's? If I run at 1700 RPM's, my temp on my starboard motor gets up to 1100 degrees. If I push up to 1950 rpm's, my temps go down to 950. Fuel burn goes up obviously.
Rich, most people don’t go out in bad weather if they can help it. The enclosure on the bridge of a 52 sedan usually has hard plastic panels covering the forward 3/4 of the bridge and air/heat. Essentially it’s an enclosed helm if you keep the clear panels down. If there is a lot of wind the boat handles the ruff stuff with ease but you do get spray on the bridge enclosure which can make visibility a chore. Some 50/52 sedan owners have installed a wiper in the center panel to help visibility with conditions that generate spray. I believe that if you install the wiper in the center panel you may loose the ability to drive with it snapped up to the hard top. Maybe someone on the page who has the wiper can comment?Question - we are considering a 07 52 Sedan Bridge with Cummins...wondering if have one helm is a negative during a storm or bad weather. We understand the 52 Sedan Bridge has full enclosure and its conditioned but wife wondered in bad weather do you with these boats wish for a interior driving position.
Thanks in advance for you
Rich
Rich - I would discourage not doing the hull survey. This survey looks at all of the running gear, electrical systems, navigational systems, and many more.. It is every bit as important as the engine survey; your insurance company will require it. So moisture isn't a prevalent issue in these boats; the areas to focus are around hull and deck penetrations and cut-outs (like for ports and hatches)We verbally have a deal on a 2007 52 Sedan Bridge with Cummins. Pretty excited To move up.
Any inspection points we should take special note on?
I would prefer not to do a boat survey and focus on the engine inspection (lender may require the Hull survey). I know some of you might disagree but I have found with boat surveys they tend to tell you all the obvious points and still miss stuff.
Other than the Hull moisture check, that seems like a necessary check.
Better money (seems to me) to have the engine surveyed and really go through it...
Love to hear thoughts
Thanks again
Rich
Can you still open the center panel with the wiper installed ? I would love to have to have center the wiper for days when there is spray. Do you have any pics you can share?I have the center wiper on my bridge enclosure. It is great. No need for a lower helm. I also have never seen a 52 with a lower helm. Being in the Midwest we have to stretch our seasons the best we can. I have been out in March with snow coming down and the heat on in the bridge. It’s beautiful riding up there in 70 degrees watching it snow. Obviously it’s not a blizzard or hazardous conditions but you get my drift. Plus 1 on the wiper option!!!!
