Jeremy:
The tables look great. A couple questions. Do you have to put them inside when not in use?

Does the flooring hold water after a rain? Does it get hot in the sun?
I have White covers for them both so they get covered when not on the boat or if we have people on the boat we can’t trust to scratch them (my daughters friends). The cover that Global Shipwrights provided is much nicer than the one I had for the original table but they both serve the same purpose, keep sun and spray off and prevent scratches.
The flooring does hold some water but not too bad. When I soak it washing down after a wet ride It takes 24hrs to be completely dry. It is mostly dry after a few hours. I went with a very light color so it only gets hot in the strongest sun and it is still walkable but on the hotter side. Not to the point where to are tip toeing across it. The only thing I would do instead of this would be real teak. The nuteak and other products like that just get too hot in the sun for me. I have friends with all shades of colors and they get hot IMO.

My real teak gets hot as well...but not quite as hot as the synthetic products...

Sliding Glass Door:
Does anyone have the manufacturers name and info for these doors? Mine needs some adjustment e.g., door won't roll without holding the hand down. It catches each screw. Doesn't seem like a big deal but it use to slide without holding the handle down. The family can't seem to get use to this new process.

Thanks
Rich
Back to the Sliding Door. Do you guys have to hold the handle down to slide the door open or closed? I believe mine did not (before recently) require the handle to be held as you slide it open/closed? I am pretty sure some guests slammed the door a few times and it now needs to be adjusted.

I only have to turn the handle to unlatch it whether it is open or closed. Once unlatched it slides smooth without using the handle.

I have had my salon door off about 5 times. I got parts directly from Taylor made and they were nice enough not to charge. I don’t have to hold the handle down while sliding once it goes over the top stop.

Curious - are there filters or screens inside of the engine room air boxes?
Can you explain what you mean by engine room air boxes?

Tom, if your talking about the air vents? I seem to recall chicken wire on mine I stuffed insulation in there one winter and sealed with shrink wrap on the outside.

If that is what he is talking referring to then yes, there is black wire mesh on mine with about 1/2” spacing.

Mac, what made you take your door off? My lock mechanism is broken. Can you describe how you got the door off? Mike

Mike,
The door wouldn’t stay open in the open position which as you can imagine if that door slides across the opening and slams shut on someone’s fingers, bye bye fingers. It was like that when I bought the boat. So I took the door off and realized that all the guts for the stopper were missing. Contacted Taylor made they had the parts and sent them.
To take the door off it’s pretty simple take the top rail off and lean the door outward from the top and lift it off the bottom rail. Don’t take the bottom rail off. To reinstall, take the top rail and slide it into the rollers just like it would be if in place and press down the rollers with the rail and pop it back in. Screw a few of the screws in place and bang she’s ready to have all the screws installed. I replaced all the rail mounting screws because the original ones are short. I bought longer ones to prevent any failure.

Many of my door sill screw heads are rusted off. Adding it to the list. Spoke with Taylor Made for info to adjust my catch at the top of the door.

Yes the large air vents on the sides of the boat. I had heard that in the 580 and the newer boats that there is actually a filter of sorts which helped strip water droplets from the air and was wondering what service would be required. I have never seen bugs or mud daubers in my engine room so was curious; I do live in the land of insects.

Not sure how you’d service them I can barely reach mine
I noticed in my boat that behind the port and starboard sofas there are access panels into the air boxes. Never opened one however. This is one on the starboard side.

I do have those. And I cannot find any service interval instructions...

Has anyone installed a chain counter on their windlass? If so, which one did you go with?
