I have a 93 250 EC with a 5.7 Alpha 1 gen 2. After making another mess in the bilge I am thinking of getting a remote oil filter kit for it. I have sourced a couple of used complete mercruiser assemblies. The mount for the filter attaches to the port exhaust riser above the valve cover. My engine has 3" extensions under the risers. Also a 1" water hose going straight into the riser right in the way of the where the oil filter would be. Can I just use elbow fittings to reroute the hose or will that cause a cooling problem. Thanks

As long as you use the right hoses and fittings you can put your oil filter anywhere you want it

Normally no problem using a 45 or 90 degree elbow, as long as it is bronze and a low restriction fitting, like the one that is on there.
