Hi all. 2002 5.0mpi is a little difficult starting at first and when first throttling up sputters and kicks for a short time then runs fine. After its warm starts and runs perfect seems to be on initial start up only. Treated fuel and checked fuel/water separator. Any guesses? Appreciate all advice I've been given so THANX...

Start with a tune up.
OK...New issue. Tried to start motor. Turned over once then went completely dead. I have absolutely no electric from 2 fully charged batteries. I have power to lower unit but absolutely nothing any where else. Is there an in line fuse somewhere??? and thanks for reply on tune up...

Bad electrical connections could be your problem as well. Check your cannon plug and ground cables as well.

Thanks...I thought so. Is there any other in line fuse that I should look for....
seems odd since I've had running previously. Terminal connections are pristine and tight. Everything worked tuesday and it is as if someone flipped a switch and now I got nuthin.....any idea on what would cause main breaker to trip out of the blue??? Thanks for quick info

Probably the 90 amp fuse at the starter, lot of corrosion can happen there. Chase your problem with a DVM

replaced 90 amp fuse.....new one blew instantly when batteries turned on. I guess the next thing is to find out what is shorting out to blow that fuse all of a sudden. Nothing added or changed since last year....very perplexing. Thanks for you help

Probably the alternator, or the hot lead going to it from the fuse is chaffed. That's about the only 1 the 90 amp protects, the others are routed to the 50 amp breaker on top of the engine. Test those wires that connect to the 90 amp fuse individually for a grounded connection
