I have a 2001 sea ray 190br with merc 5.0l EFI and It has no spark? I took a couple spark plugs out and held them to engine block tried cranking no spark. Then I took my centre plug wire off my distributor that goes to my coil and put a spark plug on it tried cranking no spark. So I am thinking it is my coil?? The boat ran good earlier I unloaded started good at dock went to other side of lake 5min ride beached boat sat for 1hour went to start just cranks like crazy. I checked fuel system first and getting fuel then checked for spark no spark. Please help

Have you checked the pickups I'm the distributer?

Muz, it's kinda rare for a coil to go bad. It's just made out of wire, more likely that what triggers the coil is NG, or there's no voltage at coil. Can you check for 12 V at coil with DVM? Turn key on, don't crank, and check for 12 Volts.

You probably have a bad sensor in the distributor or check the ground wire under the distributor.

Ok so I have power all they way to my coil And to top of my distributor cap from there on no power. The one small engine mech says could be my cdi box or rotor in distributor?? Says when they plug it in to computer with will be able to tell right away.

Could be any of these, new rotor cap, rotor are cheap fixes. Still I would get a pickup as well

If you have 12 volts to the distributor then the sensor under the rotor plate is NG. Ease fix and replace the rotor and cap while you're at it. Careful not to loose the screws down in the distributor.
