4th July trip

Friday we'll be leaving West Harbor for Pelee island to Scudders Marine for a 2 night stay then to Sandusky Paper District for 2 nights then to Middle Bass to watch the Fireworks at the bay. I'll be with a 370 express cruiser both boats running 8.1s so our 340 should have a nice easy cruise.

I was just at paper district for bike week… great spot. Have fun ….we are at PIB all weekend

We had a bunch of friends that had boats on Catawba we would come up from Cleveland and meet up with at the state park marina every year. Walk over to Lonz's for the show just above the old under ground boat house - great vantage point for it.

Have a great July 4th. Are the marina’s crowded? Our marina was very quiet this weekend. Fewer boats out for the weekend and few people here on the docks. Very strange.

I went to the Huron swim hole just out of the Huron River for fireworks last night. Usually the "swim hole" is packed for the fireworks but there were only 5 of us there last night. The lake was flat and the wind was calm....which brought out the bugs!

For sure….. never seen anything like it. The weather has been fine….. cover up for storms, watch radar….. stay in a bar until the pocket passes…… it’s not hard

I went to marina this morning to check boat. Water is table flat but everything is soaked from yesterday storms and the humidity is about 100% so nothing is drying.
There was literally nobody down there.
Between the smoky skies, humidity, and storm forecast its not nice for boating. I know I not feeling the vibe. And a lot of our tiki bars have been cancelling bands all weekend because of the storms.
We may go out tomorrow but forecast here is rain everyday until haulout. Worst summer weather i can remember.

I just got this. Thought about taken Zodiac for a ride to this. Nope cancelled.

On the Chesapeake Bay yesterday, got out just in time. Storm seemed to follow us up the bay!

Ive lost my car once or twice. Had a buddy drive me around looking for it. Of course we had to stop for a few at every bar we went to.
Ended up leaving it when we found it. Went back the following day. Don’t drink and drive.

Oh, i got a story. Back when i lived in Cleveland, my cousin who became my best man at my wedding, was in college in Michigan. Ann Arbor as i recall. Calls me one morning, lost his car needs a ride to find it. I said you got nobody closer? They all too hung over. soo get in car on a Saturday morning, drive 3 some hours get him and we off. Looking for his car.
I packed nothing. Thought i be back home that afternoon.
Oh hell no. We found his car and I proceeded to spend a week in that college town drunk and wrecked. I wish i could recount the enjoyment but it became a blur. Went to a Johnny Winter and an Allman Brothers concert.
I made it back to Cleveland a week later.

He became a tenured professor at Virginia University. I bet his colleagues know nothing of THAT week!

How is Scudder's these days? Last time we were up there the lake grass was pretty bad. But not as bad as Lexington,MI last week. Great marina and town but wow, felt like we were in an expensive lawn mower.
