First off, this is a new to me 2002 480 Sedan Bridge. There are a couple of recessed lights that have burned out and I need to replace the bulbs. The old owner left a few halogen bulbs so I assume the small fixtures use those bulbs. The larger fixtures appear to have regular candelabra type bulbs. Some of the larger recessed fixtures appear to have fluorescent bulbs in them also.

I've tried gently twisting, pushing, prying, etc. and can't seem to get the glass off of the fixtures to replace the bulbs. My wife claims that I break stuff when I try to force things apart, and unfortunately I must agree with her.

Is there a trick to getting these things apart? Pictures of the 2 recessed fixture types are attached. Thanks in advance for your advice and guidance.

They are simply removed by pulling hard enough. There are spring loaded keepers that hold them tight to the headliner. Don't mess with the glass, just pull on the metal edges. If you have a flat plastic tool that won't damage the vinyl, that should work. I can usually get my fingernails under and pull hard.

Welcome aboard!

My master bath lights pissed me off bad.... It took my 20 minutes of pulling twisting and finally yanking it out but I got it now if I could find an LED to replace it

And when it finally does pop out, those springs will snap your fingers like a mousetrap no matter how prepared you are!

THANK YOU ALL for your help. Sometimes brute force is the only way to get things done.

LED replacements would be nice, but I have to get the old electronics replaced first. My RL80C is acting up and is probably on it's last legs; but that's probably a topic for another part of this forum.

Those spring loaded clamps hurt like HELL. I ended up throwing that damn light , I did find some LEDs but they ended up not fitting , so now I have to get lower lumens lights .
