Quality , I'm not sure about an A/B switch I know mine doesn't have one ... But there could be a break in the line, you should have a 3or 4 way connector in there too behind TV in salon , that could have issues as well . We don't ever use our Glowmax so it's hard for me to say.

I have an A/B switch in one of the starboard side salon cabinets, I can't remember which. It's set back and not easy to see. I can tell you which cabinet this weekend when I'm on the boat

My '98 has an oddly placed switch In The cabinet next to the power panel. It has a 'shore/boat' switch and a gain dial.

Thanks all. I have the Glomex amplifier with the gain control in the cabinet next to the panel. Just not sure if there is an additional switch or if it works the same as on my old boat. Gain turned down/off was dockside then gain turned up was the air antenna. Which isn't working on this boat...

Well for some of you who might remember me asking specific questions about the 480DB 18 months ago, We finally found "OUR PLACE". A 1999 480 Sedan Bridge. We have some work ahead of us in mainly cleaning the interior and bilge spaces. It's been sitting awhile. Quick question now ahead of the long post I will have later. How do you get to the A/C unit the serves the 2 guest staterooms? The stairs? The 2 solid panels under the supply panel next to the washer/dryer door in the 3rd stateroom? Or somehow from the port stateroom? I cleaned the filters for the fwd. and salon units and would like to do this one as well. Thanks in advance, Chris

Thanks, On my way to the boat after the coffee is done brewing. Ordered some different size/type LED bulbs to replace the power hungry halogens in the recessed, tension mounted overhead light fixtures. Also ordered some replacement LED fixtures for the engine room and lazarette. I'll let you know which ones worked the best for me.

Just got back from boat. Took a good pull on the stairs and PRESTO it opened. Thanks again.

Searay40dad, Tim, Coffee on the boat would be great if it wasn't completely torn apart for cleaning.
I am quite impressed how this boat is assembled/built. Everyday I find another hidden compartment or hold or access panel somewhere.
Partially disassembled the sofa-bed today and brought the cushions home to clean. YES, they are that nasty. Starburst chews and Swedish Fish among other unidentified items glued in the seam. Guess the grand-kids came often. Brought the 2 clean pieces from the L part of the sofa back today and re-installed.

I have 2001 48 with caterpillar 3196 when I am underway my port engine is shutting and tripping my ignition breaker anyone experienced anything simmilar? Henry

I assume you’re talking about the 15A under steps. If your breaker is tripping while underway, I'd start by looking for a loose connection. Go from the breaker back to the engine. You could have a connection that is shorting to ground or has generated enough heat from vibrating loose that the breaker itself may have weakened from the high current draw.

The flashing 66 is a new one on me. I've had HI PS due to water restriction and LO PS when water temps have been really low and LO AC when gen wasn't kicking out high enough voltage but never seen or heard of a flashing 66. Wouldn't explain why the system kicked off but could your set point and actual temp have been at 66 and they were alternating per display set up when you noticed the problem? I do remember when my gen wasn't putting out a high enough voltage the control panel was acting flaky. You might check just for peace of mind.

Thanks Tim. I ended up changing out the thermostat and it's now working fine. I guess sometimes things just break on a boat. LOL

I have been gone from the board a while enjoying my new 480 (new to me). Recently did the trip down from the Tennessee River down the Tombigbee over to Sandestin. Wonderful trip and chance to really get to know my boat. I wanted to share a few things I learned. First, always know how to bleed the fuel on generator as this will shut it down and it is a VERY simple fix (elementary for most of you but it I knew nothing about it). Second, the boat can actually get 1.25 mpg at about 1050 rpm. Lastly and most importantly, a 480 is a wonderful boat for a family and I love it! Now, on to what I didn't learn. how to keep the refrigerator and freezer at low enough temps? I cleaned the vents on both but neither get cold enough...even when left unopened for days. Anyone else have this issue? Also, I have decided to have hardwood added in Salon and hallway, I have someone to do it but they are have never installed on a boat...any tips that we need to consider or know about the differences? Lastly, I have a project ongoing that is upgrading to a new HD Satellite and mounting a TV in the Flybridge and a removable TV to the Flybridge over hang in the cockpit. I will up load photos when done. Thanks and I look forward to your responses.

My refrigerator temp would swing wildly when we got the boat in the spring. I replaced the thermostat/control and it has been rock steady at 40 degrees since. Sounds like you have a different issue though and it is strange that both fridge and freezer are acting the same. Possibly both low on freon?

I don't find that to be the case. My freezer holds 0 degrees no problem. Both dials are at about 75% setting.

Regarding the hardwood floors, I just replaced my carpet in the salon and hallway with Amtico synthetic flooring. Teak and holly it looks great. It's guaranteed for 20 years. A little pricey though, I spent $5000 materials and labor. I went through Nuteak but the material is actually Amtico.
