SeadawgVB. I see you have a hailer.does it work? Mine is disconnected and would like to reconnect it. Any knowledge on wiring would be helpful

Mine have been off, but I had my diver pull them as I found some shallow water.Has anyone changed a prop on a 48 sedan bridge. Do I need a puller or can it be knocked off? I plan to do it while in the water.
I tested mine not too long ago, but it didn't do anything. I need to look into it due to the large amount of yayhoos who have no idea what "vessel constrained by draft" means.SeadawgVB. Thanks, will check it outI just replaced mine this winter and moved it to the hard top. There is a blue/black duplex wire coming from the hailer down the STBD side of the bridge. It then enters the lower dash area thru the wire access on that side and goes to the junction block in the back right corner (need to remove the A/C vent and have long arms to access). From there it is tied into the Ray 230 wiring harness.
Do you m an the flow rate or does your Cat gauge give you gallons left in the engine? My main EMS does not show fuel amounts, only burn rate. Anyway, if this is the same EMS a replacement from Cat is about $1000 and a rebuilt one from Cat is $800.Need to replace 1 original quad sea ray guage. Fuel is not working on it. Swapped guages and know it is the guage. Can it be repaired? Where can I get one?
MXXS - Great to see another blue hull ‘04 with MAN’s like ours. We have D2876LE405’s which are rated at 700 Hp. Do you have the same model? Currently in the middle of our big service. Where are you berthed?
I have not changed one in the water, but changed one on the hard. I think you will need something to pull or knock the prop off. Sometimes they come off easy, but the torque from the prop turning against the water really tightens it up on the tapered shaft. I wedged a board between the rudder and prop to hold the shaft in place in order to get the nut off. I then used an eight pound sledge hammer.....I had a friend hold a piece of wood against the prop so that I would not damage the metal. A few well placed taps and it came off. Most boat shops have a better tool than a sledge hammer.Has anyone changed a prop on a 48 sedan bridge. Do I need a puller or can it be knocked off? I plan to do it while in the water.
Keith, seems like they always need to use a little heat (torch) on the hubs to get mine off - the puller is not quite enough... Not sure how a diver could do that!I have not changed one in the water, but changed one on the hard. I think you will need something to pull or knock the prop off. Hi Chip,Well, I've joined the 480 DB club. We recently purchased a nice 2003 with QSM 11's in Ft. Myers, FL and brought it back to Miami across Lake Okeechobee and down the (slooow) ICW from Stuart - a great intro cruise to the 480 that has us very eager for many more locally, to the keys and Bahamas. And, I have a contract on the 370 DA so things in my boating world are great! It's been lots of fun to start learning the new systems, and enjoying things new to me: auto-pilot, a bow thruster and the flying bridge. Loving it!
Of course I have a long list of projects queued up - the first being upgrading the electronics to current Garmins. And, getting a dinghy. I had a 10' West Marine RIB on the 370 but that's included in the pending sale. My question today is about the capacity of the hydraulic swim platform on the 480. I think I read or heard that it's 600 pounds but want to know the spec so we can choose a dinghy of appropriate weight. Comments on dinghies (make/model/engine + total weight) stored on 480 swim platforms and any operational tips would be greatly appreciated.

The 480 is “yacht certified” so there is no placards and it is up to the captain to set the passenger limit. What is the maximum people allowed on the 48 sedan bridge. I do not have a placard?
