Just for kicks, I looked at a 2006 48 Dancer today, while my 410 was being hauled for new zincs and a bottom wash. OMG, what a classy vessel!! Any of you seen it, (or own one)?

Helm seat is actually 2 captain's chairs tied together on a base that can be rolled to the starboard side to make more deck space (for parties). The cabin is absolutely first class with TONS of storage. I was surprized to see a washer/dryer in the aft cabin.

I didn't like the head-room over the master bed. I liked the look of the aft cabin, but I suppose the fact that it's really tucked away behind the stairs means that it can't be used as a lounging area for guests who want to still feel like they are in the salon area.
Oh, and there is almost NO storage in the cockpit area - almost.

Anyway, I was really WOW'd. Maybe someday.

I have a friend who owns a 2005 480DA...one of the first to come off the line....

I've been on the boat a few times and the ride is awesome....

He's got a 54 trawler on order and is expected to take delivery next spring....I think he's trading in the 480 but I know it could be bought for a good price.....

The 48 is a nice boat....
I looked at it- but then decided on the 42.
Main reason was I felt the 48 was "too big" for putting in storage 1/2 the year. In winter I am a skier - and so I didn't find any benefit it taking it to Florida...other than putting a lot of hours on it! So went with the 42.
But I looked at it a lot - demo'd one for a week..took it out a lot - loved it - no quesitons about it. But, just couldn't see letting that thing sit for 5 months...

A great boat. I've been looking at them since the model came out and finally couldn't take it anymore (that itis thing) SO......got one at the Norwalk Ct. boat show last September. A dream boat to entertain on. Traded an 04' 390DA diesel boat for her. SS3 delivered the 48DA in October just in time to see, touch, smell, take a few pictures and 2 hours later..up on the hard for the winter. TG winter is just about over and in less then 3 weeks, I'll be on the water. CAN'T WAIT.

Trying not to think about the 48.... I got the itis...

WIFE DOES NOT !!!!!!!!

This thread doesnt help....

The thread may not help...but NO wife certainly and most definitely DOES help. lol

couldn't resist!

Yeah - I really didn't need to see this thread.

I will not - I will not - I will not consider moving up. (this year).

We spent a lot of time looking not at the 48, but at the 50 (now 52) DA. I really like the boat, but my wife was underwhelmed by the absence of a 3d stateroom in a 50-plus LOA boat. The engien room access and layout with the QSM 11s is outstanding. There are a lot of newer 50DAs on the market, many in the mid 400s. I bet they really run with the QSM 11s. But I am saving my pennies for a bridge boat.

I loved the 48 and was literally 5 mins from buying one, then I saw the 52DB and my wife fell in love with it (so did I). I still really like the 48, but now that I am a member of the SRSB (Sea Ray Sedan Bridge) Club, I am not sure I would go back... Come by and look at mine when you see us... you can come aboard anytime. (For those wondering - David is 2 slips down from me) (Yes, Gary - There are a bunch of us up here in the sissy part of the bay!)

We absolutely love our 48. There is tons of room, it is very easy to handle. We access the Gulf through a Lock (very tight) but never have I had any trouble getting through. Tons of room for entertaining, sleeping and storage. The 540's cruise at 26 to 28 knots. The thing that sold us was the Salon area.

The admiral and I traded up this past fall to an '08 48 Sundancer. Needed more room for our two grand kids. We were seriously leaning towards the 44, but once we previewed the 48, the game was over. We take delivery in two weeks. We can't wait to cruise her this summer. Glad to hear others are enjoying their 48's.

I looked at a 48 recently. My dealer said they were having trouble moving the boat and wanted to cut a deal. I gave it a quick, cursory once over. Good layout, lots of room, like the hardtop/windshield, etc. However, noted that while there is a lot of storage, it's all shallow storage. In other words, my wife's sundresses and skirts would not hang right, they would get wrinkled and it would be my fault. No thanks!

Best regards,
Frank

We looked at a New 44 dancer with zeus drives, and well couldn't see a reason to buy it.....Maybe next year but in Michigan.....I'ts a long time to keep it on your desktop screen just to remember what it looks like as you make your monthly payment......Uhg...;(

Happy with Our 2006 320.... and still gunna keep it..

Thing I've always wondered about these boats is the totally enclosed cockpit with the windshield/windows extending all the way to the hardtop.

About late May we pull the eisenglass windows out of the "slot" and its great to run with the air moving through the cockpit. Without this its seems like it'd get awful stuffy in there. I suppose A/C works real well in these boats - but it just seems like you'd be giving up a great feature of boating...being out in the air.

Shawn from my 26 to the 44 never took down the glass... no where to store... way too anal about scratch's.... Ill be way happy with no more water leaks .... But its still just a dream a year later my dream boats price is actually goinging up... : ( .....

was hoping this thread would just go away .....

Sorry, Rob. Thread extended. Agree with not taking front glass out. On my 340, I just had all of the canvas re-done, and I made the front glass (arch forward) all hard plastic above the windshield. The idea is to leave it in all of the time, like last year. I did, however, make the front one un-zippable to swing it up and snap it to the arch. We do this frequently.

THANX JOHN.... Im laughing as i did the same ( not changing theglass but had the center pane snap up . Here i thought i was original.

Rob

I thought it might get hot in there, but two reasons it does not.

1. Cockpit ac if so inclined to run.

2. There are power vents in the front that open up and let the wind blow through. Also the sun roofs open to let more air in
