Has anyone ever been able to find a good review with a detailed chart from idle to WOT of the fuel burn for the 48DA with the QSC540s with V-drives, 2005-2009. Can't believe no one every did a complete review on this model.

From my notes, depending upon current and Wind:

RPM Knots Burn

2340 24.4 42 GPM
2300 24.1 41.5 GPM
2250 22.7 40 GPM
2220 22.0 39 GPM
2440 27.0 46 GPM

You might want to join Boatdiesel.com and look up and study the QSC 8.3 engine info in great detail. The cooling system on the QSC is the big question mark along with recommended propping & GPH fuel burn for optimum engine life and what is called Marine Age not engine hours.

% of engine load has less meaningful info compared to the above information and maintenance requirements fir the Aftercoolers, core exchanger and assembled conditions. Go to web site SBMar.com which is free and look up Tony's tips on his experience and educate yourself very well before you jump. Great boat as it is one of Sea Ray's very best imho but you can't learn to much imho. I would hesitate a minute to buy one just need to know what to look for and how to take care of the engines. Also check the generator base pan to see what type of corrosion has taken place and see what needs to be done to clean it up there as well.

Rocket, thanks for your fuel burn info.
Gimme Time, Already a member of boatdiesel.com and done a lot of research on both the Cummins and Volvo engines that are in a few boats I'm considering. I am very aware that the engine load and propping are extremely important as well as the cooling system maintenance. Always looking at the white paint color of the turbos too. I do appreciate the reminder though. I have also noticed that way too many of those Onan gennies have rusty pans and the bottom of the front covers. What's up with that? Shouldn't be any water in these areas in a well maintained engine room.

2440 27.0 46 GPM

Bingo. Those are my exact results. Keep in mind that between 1/4 and full fuel tanks plus water on board the weight of the boat can vary by 3,000 pounds. That will affect these numbers by a knot or two. These numbers also presume a clean bottom and trim tabs dialed in.

We are also still in search of a 48 sundancer. Do you have fuel burn #'s at hull speed or cocktail cruise speed?
