Now that the Cockpit AC system is no longer located in the Cockpit(see prior thread), the enclosure that used to house it does not need to be there. So I removed it.
I then extended the raised helm area back to the drop curtain. Instead of the Leather Chair, there will be a Leather Love Seat. The Chair is there as a trial. The weather in VA is usually either Hot or Cold, so I basically leave the Drop Curtain in place at all times. Please give me your opinions. There will be another companion chair next to the existing helm chair that will also rotate. I will also have a non permenant round Cherry table in the middle. Please give me your opinions. Need I ask?

Is the gas Honda generator still located on the swimstep ? :smt038:smt038:smt038

I'm sorry....you've done some great work, but put the brown leather chairs you don't need at home on craigslist. Perhaps you should consider a houseboat.

Your're screwing around with the core concepts of this boat.

Thanks for your response. That is what I was looking for. What do you feel are the core concepts of the this boat? Seriously?

Just so you know why I am doing what I am doing. I prefer Express Cruisers but I want to spend the majority of my time in a conditioned confortable space above the water line. I like the idea of the "Sun room" on the 610DA. Just don't have the money for one or the need for a boat bigger than 50ft. I spend a lot of time on my boat either anchored or at the slip with my two boys. They normally take over the salon and a bedroom with friends and that leaves me the up top space which I prefer. The factory helm chairs are not very comfortable for any long period of times. They are either too tall to sit in a watch TV in and too short to really see out across the bow.

I think you should add some red bean bags.

I had planned on recovering the leather chair with white and blue sunbrella with matching pillows at some point. Maybe the white and blue sunbrella Bean bags are just the touch I need. Thanks!

Whoa.... I have to agree. The others that compare to this involve plastic plants, satellite dishes bolted on bow rails and Stihl powered blenders.

I definitely don't like the idea of a brown or darker colored chair, no matter how boat-like the construction was. It would be one thing if you had other similar furnishing that balanced it out like in larger express boat helm area salons but you don't. I looks like a complete afterthought.

I would try to locate a wrap-around Sea Ray module that would fit the area and could be covered to match your existing seating. Hell, I'd even consider a very high end marine white/aluminum deck chair or 2 before I did the barcalounger thing.

That custom built-in piece doesn't look comfortable. I don't find the couch in the 320 super comfortable - compared to the couches at home. Good luck tinkering with the layout. Seems like something custom could be done.

We buy these and re-upholster to match our interiors in buses. They are pricey but very comfortable. I'm also a dealer so quite a discount! Check out all the styles....

Thanks for the positive comment.

Guys, I have no intention of leaving such a hideous looking piece of furniture in my cockpit. If anyone would have taken the time to actually read my first post they would have seen the word "trial" written in there somewhere. I wanted to see what it felt like to actually sit on my boat in a comfortable piece of furniture. That is the only reason. I was also toying with the use of leather and wanted to see what it looked like. That was it. Not really sure why some of the posters enjoy trying to make others laugh at the expense of the poster. It is a sad statement of where our morals have gone in the past 40 years. Does anyone really, really think that I would just plop a dark leather chair amongst everything else being white vinyl? I was toying with the idea of changing all or parts of the existing vinyl with leather and having something on board in leather helps in the visualization. So like Skolbe says, the existing Sea Ray furniture was not really built with the intention of being comfortable for a long period of time. I was lucky enough to take a ride in 610DA over the summer and I can tell you, the furniture in the Cockpit/Helm seating area is very hard and not comfortable. Just trying to improve on an already great boat guys. Those of you who enjoying poking fun, if it makes you laugh, I welcome you to continue. Glad to be of service. Those of you who offer some constructive thoughts like the last two posters, I would love to hear from you also. Everyone have a great holiday!

Regardless of the decor, depending on where you boat the furninshings will need to be fixed to the deck. If you get 20 degrees of heel on the boat unattached furnishings then becomes a large heavy injury causing projectile. You may be planning on this already once you find good locations for everything.
