Hello,
I'm considering an '06 or '07 48 DA for my next boat. I currently have a 410 express that I bought new in '02. I've
loved every minute of it. I also love everything about the
'48. The only thing holding me back is that I've heard that it's a VERY SLOW boat. I even read a couple of boat tests that state a 24mph cruise with a 32.5 mph top. I currently cruise at 27 kts and I'm not sure I could handle anything below 24-25 kts.
Any info you guys could provide would be very helpful!

David:huh:

27 kts for a 410 sounds fast. What engines and RPM do you run?

He's got the express....not the DA. The 410 express, with the 430HP Cummins and straight drives is one fast boat.....I loved the boat, but the admiral couldn't get past the (and don't take this wrong) somewhat 'clugie' second stateroom layout and we both really wanted the second head that the DA offers....express only has one head.

The express has a 'EXCELLENT" ER acces too....

Thanks guys! You're right Dom, my boat is the EC with straight drives and cummins, not the DA. I cruise at 27 kts all day long without pushing... Romiaway, what is your fuel burn at 2350?

Hey
I just bought a 06' 48 Sundancer, cruises at 2350 rpm , 28 knots. Go for it and enjoy!

OK....now 'that' sounds a little fast to me!!! A 44DA, with the same motors, doesn't cruise that fast......or does it?

I missed that it's an EC

44DA is a bit larger and heavier. I think it also has v drives and motors more aft which is the real issue...

I cruise about 24/25knts (26/28mph) at 80% load. Burning 36.5gph combined.
That's with a summer "load-out" (full fuel, water, gear, provisions for a 3 day weekend and 4 on board)+ R310 RIB w/9.9 4stroke on the platform. Very confortable ride and for me, the trip is what counts so why rush it.

However when traveling with my friend (07' 58DB w/900 Mans) I can't even try to keep up, even at full thottle. But then again all he knows is one speed and the 120gph doesn't phase him. (that's why I lead when we travel, we get there together!)

The 48DA is a great boat to own, run, and enjoy even sitting still!

From Sea Ray Specs....

44DA------------------48DA
45' ---------LOA-------51'
14'--------BEAM-------14' 8"
22,500---Dry Weight---34,250
335------FUEL CAP-----400

Both have V-Drives.....unless you get the Zeus option on the new models.....

44 da cruises at 30 mph. 2350 Rpm. ( almost 40 gph ) She tops out at like 35 mph ( 2650 rpm ) .. Buddy has 03 410 EC... he dusts me every trip.... he even burns same GPH. The boat hauls ass...

The 48's had two versions of the 8.3 QSC motor in 06 and 07 I think.. So just make sure u get the bigger HP ur looking for . The TUNED down version was slow. I dont recal the HP's

Rob,

Semi correct, by 2007 the 48DA had only 1 engine option.

2005
QSC490 (469hp) VDrive Std
QSC540 (517hp) VDrive Opt

2006
QSC500 (478hp) VDrive Std
QSC540 (517hp) VDrive Opt

2007 & 2008
QSC540 (517hp) VDrive only choice

2009
QSC550 (526hp) VDrive Std
QSB500 (526hp Zesus pod system Opt & $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Note, the standard 2009 526hp upped the the old 517s, but I'm not sure of the fuel burn of those. My 517s, as stated in previous post, burn 36.5 combined at cruise

I've got a 2005 48 DA with the QSC540's (517hp). I also cruise around 28mph and full speed is between 35mph-38mph depending on the water. With half a tank of fuel and the boat completely empty (on a sea trial during the purchase process), I saw 40mph on smooth water.

Regards,
Jason

No problem.

I see from a post "HRCC" you were going to Kingston and stopping back at Haverstraw.

Stay on the south docks so you have access to the pool and easy walk to the restaurant. Walk by the Peninsula (road that follows behind the Rest),stop by and say hello. I'll look for your boat also. Bet they put you toward the end of Blue dock (44DA size slips).

The Bloody Mary's will be on me..Fra Diavlo style!

Rich

LOL... Damn now u tell me ... Change in plans ... Merrick to Kingston to Riverhead.

: (

Love the bloody marys !!!

All the best

Rob
