We are pretty set on a 48/50 sundancer however our broker wants us to take a look at a few 43/47 sundancers.

Does anyone have experience with each boats? Pro's/Con's of each one?

Any issue with either boat Pod systems?

In our search for a 48/50 we have stayed away from pod boats.

Feel free to provide thoughts on either boat!

We have a 450 with pods and although we've had a couple of issues with failed coolant tubes we still love the pods. The maneuverability, the ability to "hover" with skyhook, the smoothness of turning - it's just a joy to drive. I would speculate that the majority of the issues we've seen have been from lack of use by the previous owner. Don't avoid pods - in fact, see if you can do a test drive on a boat with pods. I think you will fall in love.

I know Sandy and her boat so I would definitely take her advice. Also I spoke with an owner of a newish 470 (2015 model?) at our local SR rendezvous in July and he says the same as Sandy, and loves the pods.

If you're "pretty set" on a 48/50DA then don't let your broker talk you out of it. Go for the boat you want to buy not the ones he/she wants to sell....

I have a 09 43 with pods... I love them... I turn like I'm on a jet boat.. And the sound of the turbo kicking in makes you feel like your on a fighter jet... Love my boat and my pods...

That being said, the 50 has the master in the back... There is something to not hearing the slapping on the bow... Go with your gut...

Aww - thanks Larry! :)

Good advice. Classic sales technique - sell what you have on hand, not what the customer is asking for.

If availability is a problem, that's another issue.

Thanks for the feed back. Its good to hear some positive Pod reviews. Really have been hearing a lot of negative reviews of the Zeus Pod system.

We have always wanted a 48/50 but with that said haven't been on a 470.

Here are a couple of observations:

1. Space and size-wise, there is no comparison between the 48/50 and the 43/47DA. In fact, I'd bet you find the interior space of the 43 to be very much what your present boat offers you.

2. Look at a 47DA and then ask yourself how long before you will want to trade up to the boat you really wanted.

3. Your broker wants you to look at the other boats because he has listing on them. You can't blame him.....he gets the listing commission and the selling commission if he gets you in a boat he listed. If you buy a boat listed with another brokerage, your beoker gets to negotiate a piece of the selling commission. For him, it isn't about finding you what you want; it is about dead presidents.

We looked at the 43/47 in the beginning of our search for our next boat with pods, went out multiple times. Then went on a 48 since it had so many high reviews, fell in love with everything about it so we bought one with shaft drives. We are very happy with our decision and have not looked back. It is all about what works for you, good luck with your soon to be new boat.

Thanks all, I think for now we will stick to our search for a 48/50.

The 48/50 is almost the same in size and layout as the 43/47. The 48/50 has a washer/dryer, the 43/47 does not. I prefer v-drive vs pods for reliability and maintenance. The maneuverability at the dock is no worse with the v-drives and bow thruster. I can't speak about engine access in the 43/47, but in the 48 it is fine, except the engine zincs and starboard raw water pump, but not in any way nearly impossible, like some boats I've seen. The rudder posts on the 48/50 are very difficult to reach.

The 48/50 and 43/47 do not have the master stateroom in the back. It is in the bow on both boats.
