My boat is 1,000 miles away from my home, I am going down next month and want to take a television for the Master bedroom. I want to mount the new television ( a very slim LED model) over the existing cupboard door that houses the original TV.

I don't want the door edges to be visible.

Can anybody measure the size of the door on the existing television cupboard and let me know please, then I can buy a television and mount that I know will cover the door completely.

Thanks

Graham

Consider putting the new led tv on the starboard side and making the area for the orignal tv a nice storage cabinet It will look great ......

I would prefer to mount the television over the cupboard door that is already there, the viewing from the bed is better.

Really do need the cupboard door size before I can buy te correct television though.

16" High - 16 3/4" wide (that is the DOOR size). You better buy a box of hinges if you plan on mounting on that cabinet door...you are going to need them because they won't hold the weight of a TV. Mine is mounted on the starboard side and we store sweaters etc in the cabinet. The TV angle and viewing is much improved as the TV is slightly higher.

Hi Petep

What make, model and size of television have you mounted on the Starboard side, and what did you use for a mount?

Thanks

Graham,
I have a small LCD tv replacing the original 13" model inside the cabinet in the original position. I had to make a mount for it. Other than keeping the original look i don't like it because it has a bad viewing angle. I think the idea from my two neighbours in Lake St. Clair is a good one. i.e. Placing the tv on the starboard side...... Good, a new project.

19" in the forward stateroom on a quick release mount.. easy install because the hanging locker is right behind it.

Lots of "salmon" colored sweaters...

Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated.

I followed the advice here, and in the forward state room, I mounted a new Samsung 24" LED television on the starboard side with a flat, slide down and lock mount, very easy and the viewing angle is perfect, the newest LED sets have a very thin edging around them, so almost all screen, that is why a 24" was able to fit on to that wall.

I then mounted a 27" Samsung LED in the main salon, mounted flat but with the Samsung "Magicveiw" set to the downward setting, the picture is perfect when seated on the chair or sofa.

Both televisions are only about 1 1/4" thick, so they look great and also are very lightweight, about 6 - 8 pounds.

I also fitted a Blueray DVD player in the compartment where the VHS player had been.

Very happy with the project, on to the next one when I am there next month.
