Hello all-
My carbureted 454 I’m my 1988 268 needs to be replaced. The po had it replaced in 1996. I’m not quite sure what generation it is, other than it has a mechanical fuel pump.
I found a low hour 454 MPI. Other than an electric fuel pump, will this be a “plug and play” type of install, or are there some things I may be missing? What will I need to make this swap work?

Thank you,
Bob

You have the complete engine with all the bolt-on's except the fuel pump? Starter , wire harness and all?
I believe you will need an adapter for the cannon plug.

The long block (block and heads) will be plug and play. Gen 6 is a much better platform over the Mark IV 454. All your accessories will bolt right up.

It is an engine complete with manifolds and risers. I concerned about the wire harness plug, and it I need some type of on-board computer....

Thank you for the information. If I go this way I'm hoping for more performance and better fuel economy.

No fuel pump and ecm? That could get expensive. The plug won't be that big a deal. Or if you don't want to spend money, put the manifold and carb on the newer engine.
