What is your tipical cruising speed for this vessel? Checking to see if i am having engine power problems with my 3126 Cats 420HP

We generally run 2100-2200 rpms and are turning 22kts.

Just yesterday I was running at 2500 and only got 17kts what gives?

What are you measuring speed with ? GPS, B&G Speedo ?
Is there a current flowing in the opposite direction ?
How big of load did you have on board ?
Have you had the bottom done or the props turned lately ?

Using a garmin GPS on a 5212 unit, Going into the current with about 6 passengers and half supply of water and fuel. Had the bottom done last year and the props replaced with the spares.

Any idea what your current was running...?
Going into 4-6 kt current would definitely impact your speed over ground.

We run @ 2300 rpm @23 to 25 mph.Clean running surface and props.Full fuel and water and Tequila and beer and everything else.My buddy had his hull cleaned the same time and has not used his boat much.The other day went to go for a ride and could not get his on plane. Gotta use the boat and get in the water and check things out!

These boats are very susceptible to dirty bottoms. Just a coating of slime will cost you 2-3 kts.
