We've had our 450DA for about a month now, and we are so impressed I just had to give Sea Ray a "shout out" for the design of this boat. I know everyone's circumstances and needs are different, but I swear, they must of had us in mind when they designed it.

We are an empty nest pair (getting close to retirement) that enjoy spending time with our grandkids and boating (both together whenever possible).

The storage on this boat is simply incredible! We took everything off of our 390 (packed full) and still had 3 overhead storage bins left over (in addition to the 2 hanging lockers and 2 drawers in the media room) when we were done. The forward cabin has storage along the gunnels and below the windows. Inside the window wells we found that Sea Ray had put both 110V and 12V plugs with cable caps for bringing the wires out onto the shelf. Perfect for a 12V fan when we are on the hook and 110V when we are in the slip.

The salon is layed out so that the entry stairs are in the middle. No more having the grandkids step on the counter tops. No one has to 'move out of the way', and the counter is long and deep.

We thought that having a single cabin would be a bit of a problem, but as it turns out, the 'media room' sofa pulls out into a double bed and it is extremely easy to do (under 1 minute). And with the bed out, there is still room to walk around. A full hideaway curtain pulled all the away across the media room and gave the grandkids some privacy (when getting in their pajamas, etc.). The media room has video inputs for their video game (xbox I think), they were in 7th heaven playing video games on a 40" TV on a boat.

This boat does only have a single head, but does have entries from both the forward cabin and the salon. The seperate shower works out better than we thought too. Turns out there is dedicated dry storage in the shower for out towels (and we took out clothes in and stored them as well when we showered). This kept everything dry and we were able to keep out modesty as well <g>.

Our 450 came with Zeus. Although the jury is still out on longevity, maintenance, etc. I gotta say it is a great option. Fuel economy is about 1/1 and I cruise at about 25 miles per hour. I spent about a half hour in an alcove learning how to 'manuever'. It does take a little getting used to using a joy stick, but once you do (and have a half hour to just play with it), you'll understand why this is the 'next thing' in boating.

Sorry for the ramble, but we just got back to the dock, the boat is cleaned up and the grandkids are with their parents. Sitting at the dock grilling steaks (electric grill in the cockpit) and having a few minutes on my hands, I just had to give this 'shout out'! We are absolutely in love with this boat!

It is a darn nice vessel, glad you are enjoying it.

Nice looking boat (from an older 450DA owner)

The boat or the owner ???

Thanks Turtle. The marina manager told me he has 4 transients coming in this week. All are 450 DAs, all from different locations, all different years. This must be a very popular boat for Sea Ray (the older ones I'm talking about).

Thanks all (sorry to sound so much like a Sea Ray salesmen, just excited). I don't know squat about maintaining diesels so please bare with me if I ask stupid questions. Frank has been a huge help in providing info about the 450 (as he has some experience with it). Frank - apparently one of the recalls they had on Zeus was a software update that no longer allows you to over-power the boat to the point where you lean it over so far sideways. Didn't think to get max RPMs with the joystick, but will this weekend.

I may be one of those 450DA's coming in. Moving the boat from one marina on KI to another...

Does anyone know anything about this 450 DA option:

"Doors, Dual Sliding Handcrafted Solid Wood w/Translucent Screens - Pocket (In Lieu of Standard Curtain) - Lower Salon"

I looking for a picture of it, cant seem to find anywhere...
