"The night the Fitz went down", is a fantastic read btw. Really good insight from Dudley Paquette who was Captain of the Wilfred Sykes and anchored off of Thunder Bay while the Fitz disappeared off the radar. The Edmund Fitzgerald and the Wilfred lSykes left Duluth Harbor around the same time.

Just watch the documentary last week with my whole family, sad story , never forget

Was in high school that year. In Cleveland. At that time every kid tried gettin a job on a lake freighter. Big bucks. They said I was too small to pull chains across deck. No job offer. Might have been on it. Who knows.

This is a great read; however, I believe it was the Arthur M. Anderson that had left with the Fitz, not Wilfred Sykes.

And yes, Wilfred Sykes was laid up in Sturgeon Bay most of the summer (due to COVID/lack of material demand). She has her own Instagram account (@ss_wilfred_sykes) and it's fascinating to follow her travels.
