44 Sundancer

Thank you again for all of your input. We just cleaned our 390 our after owning her for over 15 years. We will use what we have learned from this discussion and make a decision, hopefully by Labor Day, on what will be our last boat.

I have an '06 44DA with gas. more than adequate. GREAT BOAT!

I am interested in moving to a newer 44 Sundancer and was wondering if I would be happy with the gas motors or if I should only look at diesels. I am on a fresh water lake in Indiana where only gas is available easily however, diesel can be brought into the lake when needed. I was more concerned about the resale value and handling. Are the 8.1 gas motors enough to handle a boat the size of the 44? I am moving from a 1989 390 Express with 454 gas motors and want something better than how it performed.
Thank you for any input and experience,
Bob

I liked your 390. Can't wait to see your next boat. Our 400 Sedan Bridge is gas if you want to come have a ride. Oviously not quite the same boat but you're welcome to feel the power. H54.

Thanks Andy. Not sure when I will be back to the lake but hopefully the docks will be fixed. Good luck!

the short story for my 420 gasser---I mostly only travel every weekend to an anchorage that is only 5 miles from my marina. A few times a year we make a trip to other anchorages that are approx. 9 miles. The few other times that I go further just didn't make sense to go diesel and the extra expense. If I still "traveled" with the boat I would have went diesel but my use gas just makes better sense.

and the boat has plenty of power, jumps up on plane because of the lighter weight not having diesel, the only thing it looses out on in top end, (so I just don't get there as fast as the diesels)
