Ok so during our last tsunami my port side wiper didnt work. It worked last week. I only have one switch for both wipers. I found a single fuse again for both wipers.. WTF ? and Where the " F " do I get access to it . Looks like its between the port side cabinets and the speaker in the head liner. Please tell me there is a fuse i missed. I checked the Wiper arm and its firmly connected to the shaft. With wiper switch on there is zero resistance to the arm . So im hoping its a fuse... Any thoughts ?

thanx guys

Rob

Don't make something hard that most likely isn't. Always check the simplest stuff first. My bet is that you have some crimp butt splice connectors that are not making good contact or have corrosion in them.

But you still have to get to them.............

Frank,
Any idea how to even get to the motor ? Ill bet the bank its not getting power.

Would there be a seperate fuse for each wiper motor?

Rob

Thanx for the link for the replacment motor . lets hope it doesnt come to that .

Rob -

This year - or last - can't remember...my wipers weren't working. Then I went out - gave them a "nudge" - came back - and fine... They seem to be odd little motors?

If you remove the speaker in the ceiling, you will be able to see the wiper motor using a mirror and flashlight. I think that you can also get to the motor by removing the circuit panel and reaching up through the compartment where all your ac and dc wires are routed. Also dropping down the large salon light would provide good access. Lots of screws in that light but it is pretty easy.

Hope this helps.

Also, your control station breaker panel is in the compartment under your helm. It will have a breaker for both stbd and port wipers. The actual wiper module computer that controls the wipers is either mounted to the boat behind the panels where your chartplotters are mounted, or it is mounted behind the same compartment that the breakers are located.

Blue,
How do the wires connect to the motor? That speaker in the salon was pulled last week to run wiring to a new Ipod dock that went back to the radio.... Im thinking maybe snaking the wire they pulled a spade clip off ??? am I reaching ?

I just replaced the port wiper motor on my 410 DA about an hour ago. 3 spade clips and a ground wire.

Orange was low speed, orange with red stripe was high speed and the other color (whatever it was) was park. The ground was a ring connector on one of the housing screws.

As frink said, follow the obvious. Check the connecting block connected harnesses closest to the wire route the tech worked on. Push them all back tight and wire tie to prevent future partings. That could fix it alone. If not get to the switch check the wires connections in those paths.

After this pain, you'll find that the yanking and cranking in the wire chases the tech has disconnected a wiper motor.:smt021
