What would you rather have, a house on the beach, or a boat?

Boat goes sideways, backward, spins, turns on a dime, holds it place in 12 knot winds and current at 800 rpm, and runs really well. In tight turns, you look through the moon/sun roofs to see where you're going - literally!!!!!!!!

The bottom wasn't clean, so it didn't run very fast - 300RPM short of WOT. That being said, at 30gph we were getting 22mph. We should be getting quite a bit better than that. They're going to pull the boat, clean it, inspect it, and call me to see it. Wife didn't like it as much as the 44 DA or the 47 DB. That says a lot. We love the way the 47 galley is out in back.

They brought me their proposed pricing which started at 380,000 off list and included my trade in. Here's the sad part:

I'm glad to see that "engineering" has removed the need for skill in docking the boat... but I guess they'll never be able to solve the foolish look of an antenna leaning back...

I actually tried to correct that antenna last week, but it was too tight to move. Oh, well.

The price of Real Estate in the panhandle is down as well... Why not buy both ;-) We have some property on the intracoastal at East Bay if you are interested.

That's what they said when those new-fangled petroleum powered boats began to replace the sailing vessels.

Maybe they think it makes it look as though it's going faster? I need to run down to the marina now....I think that is how my antenna is positioned. :smt009

Okay, what's the sad part? Did I miss that? I see congrats are in order, so congradulations! Looks pretty to me, even if the antenna is on an angle? {some folks!}

I'm going to patent a powered antenna mount that can adjust the angle from the helm. When there is a need to look cool and fast, just recline that puppy. When you need to use the VHF, straight up she goes. Need to clear a low bridge, back down she goes. Gary in port, hit the switch and send her perpendicular to the Earth.

Sorry... not a new idea, they've been around for quite a while. Here's one I could find, ugly as all hell. I saw another a while back that was for concealed mounting and 12v, but can't find it.

The sad part is that it was just a test drive, and then they took it back.

Cons about the 43:

It is very square inside the salon and inside the cockpit to include the helm. Almost 0 styling. The salon has a huge amount of wasted space in the middle. Due to the depth of the salon and the placement of the stairs, you feel like you're really in a cave - can't see in or out. The aft cabin is really secluded at the cost of a bigger feeling salon. This doesn't work for us - we'll cruise as a couple.

Bottom line - everything is square. We like the rounded features of the 420 and 44.

For me, they are squeezing about 470HP out of about 370ci - a formula for disaster.

Pros:

Really nice styling outside.
Completely enclosed cockpit with 6 electric openings.
Zeus efficiency, if it works.
Rear cockpit styling and sun pad/swim platform, locker.
I like the forward berth.
I like the heads - all of them.

What's the street price (or MSRP, if you prefer) on the 43? SR doesn't have pricing on their website anymore.
Not even 20 knots at cruise is absurd... hopefully those numbers will increase dramatically the second time around.

I don't know if you're looked at one, but Regal's 44 Sport Coupe can be had for under $500- and I'd take a blind bet that the 43 DA is probably six figures above that. From what I've seen, SR's pricing has gone ballistic; but if they're knocking 30-40% off MSRP out the door maybe it's not as bad as I think.

The Regal's a beautiful boat- with quality on par with Sea Ray IMO. Volvo IPS 600's give a 30 knot cruise speed. If you're seriously in the market, you should check one out.

MSRP - $982,000.

Approx 50% off has apparently been advertised in our area, but I haven't seen that yet
