I would like to replace the drip pan on my salon AC, it is rusting. How do you get to it to remove the unit? I think this has been a topic in the past.

I had a similar issue. I cleaned it up best I could then poured a thin layer of a paint that encapsulates (forget the brand, but it's for water proofing wood hulls). Covered all the rust and maintained th slope for drainage. Worked like a charm. I'll look up my work order and edit this post.

I have a 2005 420 Sundance and need to remove the salon air unit. Does anyone know how it comes out

Some have taken the unit out through the triangular cut out having to cut notches in the plywood lip that surrounds the hole. Others have taken the couch apart. If I had to do it, I am going the couch route…

Is it very difficult to take the couch apart? Does the entire to and bottom of the couch come out. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

The back/top is pinned and velcroed. The amps are under here as well. The bottom pulls out and yes, there are maybe latches that keep it from coming too far out that have to be dealt with. Then there is some bracing that is screwed in that has to be removed. I know because my PO had mine replaced at some point and there is a piece of 2x2 bracing that was not put back.

I would remove the back, pull out the bottom, and start looking. Blueone on here will maybe chime in as this is how he replaced his.

Interesting topic, since I recently had my salon unit charged because it wasn’t blowing cold air. It’s still is not working to it’s capacity and I’m now considering replacing it.
For those who are/have replaced it I’d like to hear what the cost is and we’re to source it.

My $0.02…There are 3-basic units for replacement. Marine Aire, Citimarine, and the OEM Dometic unit with the Dometic being the most expensive I think. It is also the only one that is “plug and play” meaning it goes in without any modifications. I am pretty sure the salon units are all 16k BTU. The mods for the other two units are very doable, but do take a little work, ie, lengthening hoses, matching up duct work, etc. I have not priced them, but believe you are between $2500 and $3500 doing the work yourself. My PO replaced my salon unit with a Dometic Turbo unit. My boat was a FL boat and the heat was never used. The reversing valve will not shift as it should, so it is AC only which does not present a problem because the other unit works well and we use a small ceramic heater to supplement.
