Hey Dean,

I had quite an opposite experience. My STBD side was running cooler and when I had the thermostats replaced, the STBD side one was in pieces, indicating that it was "always open". Hens, running cooler then the PORT side.

This was my lesson learned when taking mechanic's recommendation not to bother changing thermostats unless something is wrong. I've learned that this is totally wrong recommendation.

Agreed, I think they should be changed whenever the coolant is replaced. I was on the fence about doing it due to access but it was quite easy. In my case i think the pieces of the tstat floating around would eventually reduce flow and my temps would climb.

The 8.8s really sound good. You can also see a Fusion wireless remote beside the patio door. Stick-on...can be removed and relocated easily.

All amp settings are through the RA770 DSP.

You may also notice in the port cockpit picture that there are no step courtesy lights. I removed them and had the holes patched with the intention of putting something more modern and more subtle. Turns out I like the clean look, and the light they provide is not necessary at all, so I may not replace them. Wiring is all there.

1800W Apollo™ 6 Channel (running 5 channels, bridged for the sub) for the cockpit and flybridge
2 x MS-AM702 70W 2 Channel for the salon and stateroom.

I am very happy with the Apollo amp.
The AM702 is ok, but I will likely upgrade the one running the salon speakers when I also upgrade them. We almost never listen to music in the stateroom...

Looks like very nice upgrade. I have the same head unit. It's pretty cool, I really like it.

Fusion speakers look sharp. I bet 8.8s sound great. Do you feel a need for a sub in the cockpit? With all the stuff you added, I'm surprised there's no sub.

I have an onan generator on my 2007 44db. I had left the boat for about a month and when I returned I couldnt get my generator to start. I do have a local mechanic here helping me to try and figure out the problem. I have new batteries and all the voltages seem correct. We have checked all the connections in the starting system. cleaned and re tightened. When i depress the start/preheat button nothing happens. In the past lights would flash and you for 15 seconds or so and then the starter would engage and it always fired right up. We have replaced a few relays and checked all the things the mechanic and I could think of but we are stumped. Has anybody else here had this issue and perhaps found a solution that we havent thought of?

There is a main breaker on the left side of the unit. Have you checked that?

I did consider a sub in the cockpit. My initial plan was 6.5s and a sub. The problem is there isn't really a good place to put a sub without giving-up a storage (the aft starboard storage hatch is the obvious location). The 8.8s was the solution, although I was a bit concerned they would be a bit of a tight fit. They work really well physically, however.

The 8.8s go down to 50Hz, which is pretty decent. The other thing is the sub on the flybridge does a satisfactory job of filling-in bass in the cockpit. It even works pretty well adding bass in the salon. The areas are all sufficiently close together, and I'm not looking for club sound. There's already a fair amount of vibration and rattling to get under control!

Next upgrade is new salon speakers. These apparently sound great: https://www.paradigm.com/en/in-ceiling-speakers/ci-pro-p65-rx-v2. I am familiar with other Paradigm speakers and they are impressive. To do is confirm they will fit in the existing opening. The plan is to try driving them with the existing 2-channel amp, but will likely need to give them more power to reach their potential.

No, and it's not ideal. The interior fiberglass walls are very thin there. I am thinking of adding some sound deadening mat on the inside...the adhesive stuff you see on car panels. I looked into adding sound insulation, but I talked to a guy at a car audio shop and he didn't think it would have much impact.

I had a 10” sub put on port side of bridge and a 12” put in a box in the fender and line compartment at the stern. Then we cut a hole and had a stainless grill placed over it . It sounds good.

What do you all carry on board in terms of spare coolant? Just did my coolant with the ES Compleat Ethylene Glycol but noticed that PO had Propylene Glycol (concentrate) as spare.

I’m thinking it could use some material(plywood strips or such vertically) epoxied to the inside to stiffen it up. Maybe sound deadening mat as well. The wall really flexes quite a bit as it is.

The previous owner put a sub woofer under the Starboard sofa on the aft side of it. He also added the Fusion 770 with 3 amps plus the sub, the system seems to use a lot of battery when on the hook. I do not blast it loud, the sound carries across the water. I do not need the stateroom and never really use it on the bridge. Well, I guess sometimes when in port working on a retrofit like the twin Garmins.

When out on the hook, we have been enjoying the JBL Charge 4 speakers. I Bluetooth from my phone. The sound stage they present is really nice with the two speakers on the back edge of the flat area under the windows.
