420/44 DB Owners Club

I really like the idea of the chain stop. Added it to the cart and went through the checkout process and it is $16 shipping. It is not on Amazon but I am hanging out in Anacortes with our Yacht Club and the West Marine has it for $4 more than Defender. West Marine is walking distance...

I used to hate WM but this store has turned it's attitude around.

I'll hobble over and grab the one in stock.

Cheers!

Please understand this is only my experience, but….I think you guys are stressing too much over the holding tank filters. In 10+ years of owning SRs with holding tanks, I have installed a new one when I bought the boat, always used NoFlex, never let the tank overflow into the filter, and never changed it again. The admiral has a nose like a bloodhound and we have never gotten a whiff of anything from the tank. We have always used the toilets just like we use the ones at home-for everything….

Just my $0.02…

+1- except when we are docked, I generally reserve the head for the ladies and children. Men can walk to the marina RR. A little dose of noflex every visit. No issues.

Can anyone explain in plain English the tax or no taxed diesel in Washington state?

I looked it up and I get a bunch of bureaucratic double speak. I don't think I am an idiot but I sure feel like one after reading the Bull Shit our state bureaucrats put out.

This marina, Cap Sante in Anacortes, WA, has taxed and non taxed diesel. The info from the state goes on to talk about recovering the taxes paid but then you are paying sales tax. WTF? Do I need to pay our tax accountant to sort this shit out?

Looking for clarity...sheesh!

I'm assuming it is like Missouri. There is tax and not taxed (red dyed) diesel. Most state have a road tax on gas and diesel to help pay for roads. Most tractors and farm implements run on diesel. They are able to buy diesel without the road tax being that they aren't driving on the roads. Marine applications are the same.

Thanks Tim, I see the taxed and non taxed at "card lock" stations so equipment operators can fill their dozers with non taxed fuel and the over the road truck with taxed.

Trying to figure out the fuel dock...non of the boats are on the road...

Curious what you all are doing for a flag setup on the stern of the boat. My flag is about 28'"X 44" and i think it may be too big. Noticed stress cracks around the mounting base that goes into the transom. For this reason I only keep the flag up when we are moored.

Mine seems to be ok. I don’t remember seeing any stress cracks, but I will double check. I don’t run flag up either.

Mine is fine as well, no cracks.

Mine did not have cracks, but I did re instal a new holder next to the stern light so it was up higher and more centered. i wonder if someone in the past put stress on yours by tying off to it or otherwise.

It’s possible someone grabbed it climbing aboard. I guess I’ll just continue only flying it when moored as I don’t want to relocate it.

28x44 is a large flag for the cheesy flag mounts . I would use the rod holder hole for something like that

Does anyone have the procedure for removing the flybridge canvas? I am replacing the Radar unit and have to access the top of the radar arch. The top canvas seems really tight.

I think I will open the vertical zippers on the strata glass portion and reach out and down and release the snaps at the top of the eyebrow.

Thanks!

I always just climbed out of one of the side windows and shimmied my arse on to the arch to service or clean the equipment there as well as the top of the canvas. It is a benefit of have a smaller physique, 5 10 and 160 lbs. I removed a buddy's radar on his 420 by putting heavy cardboard on the canvas and lowering the unit by a rope down the side of the bridge. I did not want to deal with unlacing the canvas and removing the windows to service one system.

Thanks CD...the canvas looks really tight.

I have not been 160 lbs for a long time...haha!

I could see myself hitting the dock from 12 feet...too many broken bones.

Cheers!
