Before you replace, try Restoration Technology Marine Strip. Mine were bad and this made them look like new. I did need to adjust the rollers on the cablemaster when I was done.

I may have not given enough detail on my waste water gauge. It is sending a full reading to the guage which shuts down the vacuum flush when its not even close to full. If I unplug the unit on top on the tank the vacuum flush works fine. Anyone have a idea what i need to check or replace before I start changing parts.

thanks

When you unplug the wires, you can unscrew the cap on the tank where the wires enter. When you remove the cap there will be, I think 3 tubes/probes with sensors on the end of each. One is for empty, one is for 1/2, and the other for full. They float up and down a very little ways, but your shortest probe has the sensor trapped at the top by likely a piece of dried toilet paper. Pull them out and clean them good and reinstall. Start using NoFlex Digestor and never have another problem……

The cap will be tight and you might need to take a long screwdriver/hammer to tap it counterclockwise to loosen it then can be removed by hand. If you have been using NoFlex, the odor and gunk will be very minimal….

Vetus Bow Thruster Motor

I have a Vetus bow thruster motor available. It is a 95kg unit, 24 volt, from a 2006 Sea Ray 44DB. This spring the bow thruster drive unit failed and I removed the entire bow thruster for repair. I had the motor overhauled while I was waiting for the new drive unit but the drive unit was not available anywhere I tried.

I bought a new Power Max bow thruster and installed it so I now have the Vetus motor, prop, etc. available.

Unfortunately I have misplaced the overhaul paperwork, but the motor runs fine. I have included some pictures.

PM me for details. I will ship it, but that will be in the vicinity of $55.

Good luck to all the east coast boaters. I just took my boat up the Connecticut river and had her hauled out. Hope it isn’t necessary but all we can do is hope for the best

Did you remove your bridge enclosure?

No I didn’t, I think I’m protected where am. I hope. Are you removing yours ?
Still on the fence but leaning towards leaving it in place and just closing the hatch to keep the wind out.

Wow, the hurricane that didn’t show up to the party. I’m glad there wasn’t any damage. I know marinas are looking to capitalize on boaters problems but overcharging is a crime. I hauled out at Chester Point Marina, I paid my bill only to find out they charged $26.50 a ft. $1,161.00, my fault but when I told the person at the desk I pay $30.00 a ft for winter storage they smiled and said “ it’s a storm “. All is well like I said, I’m glad the storm never happened. Enjoy the rest of the season.

I think I have possibly tweaked my port propeller and now have a vibration. I dove the boat today and did not see it feel any damaged metal, but there is a small amount of paint missing from two blades along leading edge and up to an inch wide. But no dings I could feel or see. I was in shallow water this weekend that according to depth finder maybe had 10-12” below the props and we idled through there. So thinking possibly those two blades could have dredged through mucky bottom and tweaked itself a little out of shape and balance.
That said, thinking about pulling the prop and sending to shop for reconditioning. Can anyone tell me what’s minimum reach for a puller to reach from end of shaft to forward side of prop hub as I am needing to buy a longer reach two jaw puller? Am also going to buy a couple cheap harbor freight 24” adjustable wrenches with 2 1/2” jaw capacity. Think that’s big enough? Going to try pulling prop without hauling the boat and didn’t think to take anything for measuring these sizes when I dove today.
Thanks!

I fixed the macerator pump this weekend it ended up that the duckbills were wore out just wanted to let people know there are two of them and they are 1"1/2 size very easy job will only take anyone about 20 minutes

Isn't that one just for overboard discharge?
yes it is unfortunately are area does not believe in having pump outs and is a common practice the few we have around are either broken or full. I am in the biggest marine around and they don't even have one total BS if you ask me

Total BS, I agree. Sounds like some phone calls to the proper authorities are in order.
If I had the time and your location I would do it for you. It really pisses me of that you have no options. There must be some laws that facilities must be maintained to afford you those options, being that there are laws prohibit overboard discharge.

Laid it out yesterday and installed with extension platform. As I made all the measurements and submitted to Hurley, they did a very comprehensive CAD drawing illustrating the benefit of the extension so I spent the extra money. Increased install time because now I had eight holes to drill instead of four, but not really a big deal. I just took my time and measured multiple times before drilling. I was only able to offset 9.5" to starboard due to extension as any further would have impeded swim ladder access. A foot or so would have been better but I had no room. I have Flexi-Teak composite on the platform (1/4" thick), so I did not need to use the 1/4" shim I purchased from Hurley to get over the swim platform lip. The davit cradle itself installs right on the extension and came with the hardware which was nice. Including the thickness of the extension and swim PLATFORM, I used 5/16 x 5“ carriage bolts and 1 - 5/16 X 6". I made my backing out of three-quarter inch starboard and used very large fender washers. I’m definitely getting the electric winch as my dinghy at 340lbs +/- does take a bit of effort. I’ve only loaded and unloaded twice to get an idea how it works and in time I know I will refine the process. Plenty of access to rear storage and I can walk from port to starboard which is sometimes needed when tying up. Sits higher than I thought but looks proper. Overall cost a bit over 5K, plus stainless hardware. Another $600 or so for electric winch - which will be ordered.

This was a good solution for me considering size of dingy and I did not have to break the bank. My old AB being 10'6" LOA would have worked even better but I wanted this Highfield.

2 questions for you,
How do you like your Hurley lift ?
Have you anchored up river past the seaport ?

[Here is my current project. It includes open array radar, FLIR , and a 220 rear camera.
3 MFD’s 7” 9” 12”. Cannot wait to get it all going.
