420/44 DB Owners Club

I could see installing a surface mounted bowl style sink with an extended faucet. It may be far easier than cabinet and counter top replacement. I wish I thought of it while I still owned mine:rolleyes:

I’m installing these guys to try and stop ‘some’ of the wetting ..

I have a starboard list and seem to remember someone saying Searays answer was to put some ballast under the guest cabin bunk.

Has anyone who has had this issue been able to fix it without adding ballast?

mine also list a little to starboard. It helps to keep the water tank full since it's just port of centerline. But even with full water tank it lists to starboard although not as much.

I sometimes wonder if the list causes the port chine to sit high causing increased ‘chine slapping’ in the forward cabin.

Been thinking of adding the 400lbs of lead.

On mine at least I don’t think the list is so much as to affect that.

In my quest for more refrigeration I’m turning my flybridge stowage cabinet/box into a eutectic fridge so even more weight will be on the stbd side :(

We have the starboard list as well. Have been running the port tank slightly heavier than the starboard to compensate. Seems to help.
Btw, have been considering a fridge at the bridge as well. Curious of your setup when done.

I do the fuel imbalancing thing too but can’t help thinking it’s a temporary solution. Maybe some chain or something under that outboard bunk - At least it’s useful as a spare.

As for the eutectic icebox arrangement, I’ll keep you posted for sure.

I've been storing cases of bottled water and extra drink mixers and such under the dinette seating as far port as possible to move more weight of usable items. I would think other useful things under the outboard bunk would help and instead of lead it would be things you could use as needed and replenished later when back home.

Have you guys thought of moving the thruster batteries to Port. I know the options for space are not great, probably need to put them way aft under the swim platform which would require a longer wire run as well but that would also give better water heater and second vacu-flush system access. I was looking into it but always ran with 50 less gallons in the starboard tanks since fuel is pretty easy to come by in the areas we boat.

I would prefer not to move any weight further aft since my boat tends to be aft heavy where running at cruise speeds requires a good bit of trim tab to bring the bow down.

I tend to agree. I had to make my tabs bigger and add a second actuator to get my nose down. I’m really starting to think that lead or chain may be the only consistent (set and forget) solution.

I gave this task to my wife to add ballast by removing the port side folding sofa. She now has tons of room to add "stuff". So far she's doing a great job!

Can you guys school me on the options for these boats. I looked a bit and I'm not sure if they are options or were just added through the model years.

Rear bench in cockpit?
3 helm chairs on bridge?
Helm AC (I'm sure this is optional)
Extended swim platform?
Hydraulic swim platform?

Anything on your wish list or things that are a must have?

Thanks!

For those of you who have 2006 and newer 44 dB I will be curious to know who you are using for insurance. I was using tub and they just increased. Any and all information would be helpful. Thank you

I have used Berkeley One for the past 2 years. The prices are very reasonable and the service has been good.
