410DA Racors

I hope you are not going to tell me that I can't use Tite Seal on this fitting... and I have to use a spermicide or laxative or something.

I have another "one more" one last question. ...

That stringy black stuff floating around in the bowl is annoying the daylights out of me. I really want to clean it out.

Question:

When I "break" the two halves of the bowl, is there a gasket or O-Ring I need to replace? Do I need a parts kit before I start this job? I know it's only been a few weeks, but when I clean the bowl, I will again change the Racor filter.....better safe than sorry.....

I took mine apart last season for cleaning at the same time I installed my petcocks. There is a rubber gasket between the sight bowl and the metal housing. I did not replace it. I just re-assembled everything, and I have had zero problems with seepage, etc. I think you are fine to do the same, unless your gasket looks compromised or deteriorated. Cleaning them will give you a good baseline for how clean any subsequent fuel is in your system.

Have fun!

Hello Dom,

Yes there is thick rubber O-ring, but there is no need to replace it when it's not damaged.
You saw the photo's in this post from my cleaning job, and I think you don't have to do this again and again when you get your diesel and your tanks cleaner afther your treatments.
But before you get them clean, you have to clean the bowls and replace your racor's more frequently.

Succes Peter

Gary, yes they are, I put mine in last spring and used the permatex
thread sealer. No problems - pretty simple job.
