My 1995 400EC needs a new swim platform, among other things that Sandy trashed.
I can get a very nice "new and improved" one from swimplatforms.com
Has anyone here ever removed it on a 400EC ??
th

Problem is the water tank is in the way, looks impossible to get to the mounting bolts.
Right now I'm thinking after pulling the generator, maybe the tank might have room to slide to one side a bit.
Anyway..hoping someone else has had the pleasure of this job already on a 400EC.

Thanks guys,
Mark.

Tried to remove mine on my 320 for repairs, took all the bolts out and it wouldn't budge . After a few days off trying I spoke to the glass guy again and he informed me that I need a forklift to remove it so I gave up and he repaired it on the boat in the spring. It's attached with 4200 or similar he said you have to slide a long blade the entire length and height of the mounting surface, to break the seal. But it must be supported with a forklift Good luck and be careful

I took and replaced mine with a swim platform replacement. A trick some one told me when I was going to do mine, was to put underneath the old platform some cribbing to prevent it from dropping off to the ground. Remove all the mounting screws. The platform will be still secure at that time. Get some wood tapered shims they use for leveling windows and door frames. In several spots across the swim platform where the platform is secured to the transom by caulking, start the shims in the caulking. Slowly tap them in a little at a time. Before the shim hits the 1/4 thickness, the whole entire platform will pop off, but you have to hammer them down evenly. BTW, my buddy who told me this had a 99 SR 400 Dancer that the marina damaged his swimplatform.

I own the same year and model. I believe that you are correct. I contemplated putting a dinghy lift on my boat. After much investigation I came to the conclusion that the generator and water tank must be removed in order to get access to the attaching fasteners. There just is no room back there with the water tank in place.

I have no problem in removing the genny but, the water tank looks too big to come out.
Maybe the shelf it sit on comes apart?
I am now thinking of fixing the orignal one.
The platform is busted up from Sandy but, should be fixable...if I throw money at it.

I like to do things myself and normally have the time.
