All,

My 1995 400EC has a shower box under the floor and it keeps getting water in it from somewhere...?
The four drain hoses connected to the shower box are the shower, FWD aircond, rear aircond and one mystery hose that gos up behind the fridge?
The water is coming from the hose from behind the fridge.
Anyone know what it's connected to?
Could be a freezer drain.
My freezer is iced up pretty good and I'm guessing melting ice..
The pump kicks on every few mins. for just a second.

If anyone has pulled the fridge on a 400EC or replaced the shower box on a 400EC you may have my answer.

Thanks,

Mark.

Mark,
That "mystery hose" is the outlet from the shower box bilge pump. It runs behind the frig to a thru- hull about mid ship on the port side. There will be a bit of water in it as it does run somewhat uphill.
The other hoses are the drains from the condensation trays from both ac units and the shower drain.
On the subject of the condensation tray hoses, have you ever flushed them from the tray to the sump? I can tell you from owning 2 400 EC's the stateroom drain will get clogged with kind of a lint substance and fill up the forward compartment in front of your berth when you get on plane.

Wow!....I am embarrassed.
It IS the overboard discharge.....stupid me.

Well, there must be a check valve in the line.
The water thats trapped in the uphill part of the line is draining back into the box.
Just enough to trip the float and turn on the pump.
I will look at it later.

Wow, I'm dumb.

Yes, I cleaned out the A/C drains that go to it ;)

Thanks Al,

Mark.

If you replace or clean out the little duckbill type valves that are on the outlet side of the pump, it does help with the lines draining back, the vlaves are inside the rubber pipe that is fitted on the outlet side of the pump, they just slide out of the pipe, make sure you note which way they go back in.

I was never totally happy with this on my 1997 DA, so I fitted an additional one way valve on the line just after it came out of the box, and using that "belts and braces" approach, it seemed to totally solve the problem of water draining back into the box, and the pump cycling through the night.

I think the valve I used was made by Whale.

I just ordered two replacement and a set of spare duck bill valves for the standard Rule shower sump. The shipping for these little buggers cost more than the parts, so get together with a few other slip mates and make one big order.

Thanks guys...
Will see if I can clean out the duck bills tonight.

Problem solved.
The check valve was/is part of the box and looked fine but, leaked like it wasn't there at all!
I got a high quality (I hope) Whale 3/4 inch check valve and installed it in the discharge line right out side of the shower bow.
Works like a charm...
:)
Guys again,
Thanks for the education on shower boxes.

Mark.
