I have a diesel '99 400DB with a Westerbeke 8kw geneset. The exhaust has gotten louder and louder over the years. Anyone ever replace the muffler for the genset? Or have similar issue? I also need to replace the head vent filter...who the heck designed that location?

I replaced my (different year and model), but went with the onan muffler and resonator. Made a huge difference on my boat.

Can't offer gen. set noise solution....but...did just changed holding tank filter above holding tank.
I cut off the top of the Port side Racor mounting board - removed a couple of 12v batteries and was able to squeeze into position to replace the filter - replace the batteries... (which I just slid up between the engines and out of the way) and done.

I appreciate that...I am going to look. Someone mentioned that once I get in there I should reroute the pipes a little to make it easier next time.

JG, sent you this in a pm. But here is the part number for the onan:
PART NUMBER. 0155-3147 Muffler–Water Lift and Resonator (2 in. O.D., dual silencers)

Let me know what you figure out. I raft with a 400DB all the time and that damn generator sounds like a farm tractor.

I had the onan resonator installed. Made a big difference, however I found one of the problems I had was a painted over inlet for the generator cooling. Cost me two visits to replace the impellar, now the westerbeke water flow is almost like the CATS!
