Help. I have a new to me 1998 400 Sundancer. During sea trial both alarm buzzers sounded when the ignition was first turned on and prior to starting. Since then I have "lost" the buzzer for the starboard engine. I still see the red light on the system monitor, but alas no buzzer. I pulled the upper instrument cluster panel and located one buzzer but only one. Does anyone know where the second buzzer would be located?

thanks

I believe there may only be one. Use the systems monitor test switch to activate as i believe it uses the same buzzer. I too have been meaning to fix ours but would wonder what type of buzzer to use. I'm sure Radio Shack or my other local electronics place would have something.

I purchased one from Radio Shack and it is substantially louder than the Sea Ray one on mine. I still have the issue where the buzzer works as designed for the starboard engine but does not alarm when I attempt to start the port engine. There only appears to be one buzzer (that I can find) and it's wired directly to the system monitor. I do get the low oil pressure light on this monitor when switch on the port ignition, but no buzzer. Guess it's going to be a call to MarineMax on Monday.

My Buzzer is flaky as well. But its not the buzzer, which there is only one of, it is the system monitor. The lights always work, but the buzzer does not always work. Unfortunately, the system module has been out of production for a long time, there are none in stock anywhere and the module itself is potted and not repairable.

I know that is not much help, but that's what I have found when I tried to fix mine.

Pete,
Can you explain potted a little ? Does this mean it is set in epoxy or something.
I am wondering if some of this could be cold solder joints ? If you can get to the board with an iron maybe just hitting the contacts would fix the issue. Just a thought.

Mike,

Yes potted means that everything is encased in a solid like epoxy. So you can't get to the solder joints.

There is a system monitor reset circuit breaker in the engine compartment forward bulkhead. You need a paper clip to regret this particular breaker. This may solve the lack of buzzer problem.....

I think the systems monitor is different after 2000. I believe prior it is all in the LED module screwed to the back of the dash.

I do not, I will not be at the boat for several months. The breaker is on the same panel that has the battery master switches. You need to reset it with a paper clip or other thin object that is inserted into a small hole on the left side (I think) of the breaker. The breaker itself, cannot be reset in the normal manor. The procedure is in the owners documentation in,I believe, the section on system monitor operation.
