Have any of you replaced your cockpit icemaker? Ours died and I started to remove it - thinking it was an afternoon to pull and replace with a new one. Seemed straight forward at first but I can't get the old icemaker out of the door opening. I have removed the door and frame, removed the icemaker door and still I can't line it up with the opening to pull it out. There is a plywood piece that surrounds the ice maker that seems to be keeping me from my objective. Do I need to remove that too?

Thanks in advance.

I hope you get an answer and forward it on to me
i have the same problem but not yet started to take it out
it looks like a simple process
have you made any progress

Savannah,

It is an easy job. First you need to remove the door and finish trim on the outside. This is accomplished by removing a series of screws on the inside of the finish trim.

Next remove the screws on the front of the icebox that secure it to the grey facia that surrounds the icebox. Now...looking inside the opening (to the right and left) you will see screws that secure the grey wood facia to invisible brackets. Remove them and the grey facia can be slid back under the icebox until it is far enough out of the way to create the clearance you need to pull the box out.

Good luck.

Thanks so much i think i can go at it with confidence now
