Hello everyone,
Just wanted to know if anybody here has had experiences with a 2006 40DA with diesels.
Would like to know the good, the bad and the ugly.

Much appreciated.

Anything more specific? I would think that's a lot of engine for a 40DA, but if you are running long distances it might be worthwhile. Those are noisy engines on a smaller boat.

I sea trialed a 2005 with the QSB-380's and thought it was a great boat. I recall it being quieter than our 07 44DA with the QSC-500's.

We moved to a 44 for two reasons, one in the northeast there was a total of 3 40's (as opposed to about 10 gassers) available with diesels and two we really wanted the actual second cabin with head. Beacuse of the premium the diesels were asking we really closed the gap in pricing on the 44.

For me a 40 footer should have diesels unless its a dock queen. The fuel tanks on these boats are small enough, burning 50%+ more fuel just doesn't get you very far. Even with the diesels I found myself twice on our long vacation this summer getting fuel because I felt we would be cutting it too close to get to the next port, one of those times was at an dock we had to wait 45 minutes to get on and then pumps were slow so we lost well over an hour and nearly missed a bridge opening because of it.

Currently own a 2007 with QSB 425's. absolutely love the boat. I would not buy this with gassers. This has been our first year with diesel power let me know if there are any specific questions. Maintenance is a bit more expensive but worth the better fuel economy.
