Has anybody run a 4 blade alm prop on a 215 96 ec .Right now I have a 14 1/4 x 21 3 blade prop. The motor is a 5.7 L 210 2 brl carb im turning 4800 wot. The motor rpm is 4200 to 4600 for the 210 hp 2 brl.Just need some info on what yr running.Wot on flat water Im getting 47 mph at 4800.More interested in cruising speed .Im thinking on running a 14 x 21 4 blade ,but the prop peeps say go down 1" on the pitch! What did you do?Tks GD

Why do you want to change. It sounds like you're dialed in. If you do go with a 4 blade, I agree with the "prop peeps"

i have a 5.7L engine with 250hp and i'm running the OEM prop. it is a 14" - 19 pitch 3 blade stainless steel Mercury Vengance prop. Overall it performs well IMO, but i really don't have any experience with other props to compare it to. the boat planes fairly easy without using the trim tabs and stays on plane to around 20 mph. I have only tried to run wide open once and then only for a minute or so. With a full tank of gas, full fresh water tank, wife, slight surface chop, slight head wind, and a couple hunderd lbs of gear i got up to 43 mph at around 4600 rpm. it may have had a little more left but i didn't keep it wide open for very long. i don't like to tempt faith and risk causing a major mechanical problem by running a 12 year old boat wide open. i really don't care that much about top speed anyway as we mainly use our boat for cruising and occassional watersports when the kids and grandkids are along with us, which isn't very often. i did add a stingray hydrofoil to the boat which had a dramatic effect on the stability of the boat while cruising and helped to keep the boat on plane at a lower speed. this helped reduce our cruising speed to around 25 mph at around 2800 rpm. the hydrofoil also made the ride smoother and helped planing time. now i only use the trim tabs when i plane the boat with a full load of passengers or i need to correct for wind or an unbalanced load.
