Hello everyone!!!

I am about to change my 320 DA hull color.
I got a great deal last year on a white hull but i always wanted a midnight blue color.
I am thinking to go with a color wrap, does anybody know how much it's going to cost me, if it's worth it, is it going to last.

Thanks

My company does a lot of boat wraps, usually with graphic images on them as we are the exclusive graphics company for marine artist Guy Harvey. The price is based on the total square footage of the wrap as well as the difficulty of the installation. Also which brand of vinyl you use makes a difference in price, durability, and removability. We are 3M Scotchprint graphic providers and though 3M can cost a little more, it is warranted to not only conform to the surface of the vehicle or vessel, but not leave any glue residue when removed.

Since you just want a solid blue, find someone who can offer you the 3M opaque color chart to choose from; ask for a 180 or 380 film (that is their high performance), and I'd also ask for them to laminate it with 3M 8519 lustre, or the 3M gloss (I think the number is 8518 but would have to check)..so it will last even longer and protect the vinyl and the boat a little more. It will also make it easier for the vinyl to be removed down the road when you are ready to do so.

Good luck and let me know how you make out.

Barry...could you provide a link to view some of the wraps you have done? This is something I may consider doing.

I'm curious. Could this technology be Awlgrip's worst nightmare?

I meant to bring a 3M color chart with me.. I'll pick one up at my office Monday and let you know the color. The 8519 or 8518 is referring to a lamination to put on the 3M vinyl which will protect it even more from the elements and you can still wash and wax it like you would a paint; and when you go to remove the vinyl it will come off a little easier having the bond of the lamination on it.

our website has some boat wraps on it if you want to get an idea.

This looks like a fantastic choice. I am interested in this for my boat ASAP. Does anyone know of a certified 3M company around Norwalk CT?

Thumbs up on the 3M wraps!

I've got two enclosed trailers with 3M wraps and they still look new 4 years later. One trailer sits outside and the wrap has performed very well. I still Polish once per year which is needed for longevity, but they are extremely easy to maintain.

We also had 3M graphics on the Suburban and when I removed them to sell it there was no residue or shadowing left.

370 Dancer, I checked out our website, and it works fine when you click on boat wraps.. Not sure what happened when you went to the site.

Chris S, if you pm me I can get you some info for your area. We do vehicle and boat wraps all over the country but I can see if there are qualified and certified 3M Scotchprint sign companies in your area. We work with a group of 3M certified installers where we produce the wraps and use the ones in that part of the country to do the install. (unless it's a large fleet where I send all my own guys to the site).

One thing to look out for if you want more than just a solid 3M color that pretty much any sign company can order from 3M's distributors; is that they not only use the 3M vinyl and 3M lamination on top of it; but that they are approved by 3M and use the 3M inks. The vinyl and lam is a big part of the equation, but the inks are what makes the image last and not fade for many many years.
