New to us 2004 390 DA, 1st big boat. does all water you use on the boat, sinks and shower, drain to the same holding tank as the vacu flush head? Thanks

No, the sinks, shower and AC condensate drain into the gray water tank under the floor in the salon. Keep the screen to the drain clear or the tank will back up and overflow. I put a little diluted bleach down the shower drain once a week to keep this tank clean and clear.

Bear with me, do gray water tank contents need to be pumped out or does it go overboard automatically?

Some boats destine for inland lakes are built to send everything or almost everything to the holding tank. Many guys on here have made adjustments/modifications to plumb/pump sinks, sumps and such overboard depending on the ordinances in their location.

There is a float switch and pump in the tank that will pump it out as long as the filter screen is clear and not blocked. You can assess this tank by lifting the main hatch in the salon. If it is filled with slime or hair pour a small amount of bleach down the shower drain and it will clean it up quickly.

As plumbed from the factory, all of the sinks AC condensate, showers go over board. Sink are usually high enough that they go strait out to a thru hull fitting. The showers and AC condensate flow to a sump box that has a small pump and float switch.

If you go to Searay.com, you can get all the manuals and supplements for you make model and year (you will need your HIN). There is a lot of info in there. This is the page your looking for.

I find it mildly entertaining that the holding tank vent is "P".

The quick answer to your question is "it could be either way".

If your boat came with the Gray Water System option, then yes, all things would be plumbed to the (head) holding tank. If it does not have the Gray Water system, then things will be as mentioned above... either directly overboard (sometimes depending on the items height above water level) or will go to the sump box to be pumped overboard automatically.

You'll need to physically look at drain hoses and where they go (or lack of thru-hulls). Keep in mind that a previous owner could have changed things.

Thanks Dennis.
