Hello All,

I'm looking at a 390/400MY with a Hydraulic Lift Extended Swim Platform.

This doesn't seem to be a common option and I'm concerned it's too heavy for the boat and will affect performance.

It's powered by Cumins 480CE.

Any advise is appreciated, Thanks!

An extended swim platform, hydraulic or not, was not offered as a factory option for this class to my knowledge. The boat already squats quite a bit on plane so I'd be concerned not only about its impact on performance but whether it would stand up well given the forces applied. So, heavy may be good from that perspective. It also has the most powerful engines ever offered for the class so maybe it's an OK combination but I think you are right to be concerned. If you go further with this boat, I'd think you'd want to make sure the surveyor is capable of thorough exploration of this issue and have a good set of non-platform 480-equiped performance figures to compare with how this one performs in a trial.

The 480CE's are great powerful engines, I had a 2005 420DA which I added a SeaLift Hydraulic Platform. After adding the lift I did not notice a performance difference. With that said I don't have any experience with the Sea Ray MY's.

My friend in the slip next to me has the 39MY and the add on hydraulic platform. On that platform sits an 11 foot dingy with a 30HP Honda engine. The boat did not skip a beat. Those Cummings handle the extra load perfectly. He still cruises at 28 knotts with no problem.
