Can anyone confirm where the the A/C condensate drains in the 40 motoryacht. I found the aft unit draining to the aft bilge but we are accumulating water in the main bilge and I suspect it is from the A/C.

Thanks,

Dan

Dan - I was always under the impression they drained to the shower sump in the bilge. I was just looking at the parts manual for the 390 MY - to confirm my impression - and it is not clear where they drain. Hopefully someone else can confirm they drain to the shower sump or some other proper place. :)
Best,

Sea Ray typically on all newer boats routes it to the shower sump - Does the shower sump need cleaning and or replacing? They overflow when there is an issue.

Sometimes the hose pops off the condensate tray and water spills into the bilge.

I checked mine this morning and it's definately plumbed to the sump for all A/C units. Having said that, I've got water in both the engine room and aft bilges and am on the hunt for the reason(s). I did a lot of securing of fittings in the spring and the bilges stayed dry all summer. I stopped running the AC units when it turned cool several weeks ago and am thinking that perhaps condensation may be at least part of the problem. It's also been quite rainy for several weeks here so I'm also suspicious of rainwater intrusion from somewhere. I'll keep looking and will post any findings and would be interested in any results from others.

I checked with Sea Ray and they were nice enough to send me better drainage diagrams for the boat and they do indeed get plumbed to the common drain and ultimately to the sump. But I am getting water in my aft cabin on the port side carpet. I am stumped. NO plumbing runs on the port side that I could find and after removing the two drawers and checking the sidewalls it is not only dry but dusty in there. The only thing I can think of is water coming through where the cablemaster is and I will check that this weekend. One other possibility is that the condensate drain backed up but I don't see any evidence. All pumps are clean and working. Any ideas? Help?

Dan, I suspect you have the same problem I experienced in this area. There is plumbing on the port side all the way aft for the shore water connection and the swim platform washdown. You can access that area via the panel at the back of the hanging locker. It's on the other side of the cablemaster cord bin so it's quite a reach from there but you can also remove the washdown panel from the outside. In my case, the shore water connection failed catastrophically and the source was obvious but you may have a slow leak there or on one of the other fittings that can be tightened.

I had a similar problem. The carpet was wet on the port side from the locker to about half way toward the stairs. I did the same as you , took out the drawer ect. I eventually turned off the fresh water pump to see if that change anything. Sure enough it started to dry up after I turned the fresh water off. I eventually found the leak, it was a fitting at the shower on the transum. To ge to that fitting you need to open the closet and take off the aft cover to expose the hull, you can see the fitting I am talking about. If you see water in that area then you have found the problem. In my case it was actually dripping slowly.

I mis read your original post :smt021 We had water on the carpet between the bed and the port side. Replacing the freshwater inlet cured the problem for us. As mentioned above you need to remove the back panel of the hanging locker on the port side.
my 390 my parts manual lists part # 141168 for the water pressure regulator inlet.

best,

thanks all. I did check that area and seems fine now but did not turn on the shower. boat is in winter storage and once commissioned in the spring, will do more checking.

I've again got wet port side aft cabin carpet. First noticed it about 3 weeks ago and assumed it was from the water fittings aft of the closet again, even though I could not see anything wrong in there. I vacuumed up the water and secured dockside water for the season and resolved to change fittings in the spring. Last week I winterized the potable water system (along with everything else) in preparation for shrink-wrapping this coming week. I returned to te boat today for final preps and the carpet was soaked again. It's fresh water and not pink so I am assuming it may be coming from rainwater since I believe every drop of water on board has been removed and there is antifreeze in every system; there was a fairly large rain during the past week. The water appears to be wicking all the way through the carpet to the void at the middle of the foot of the bed. I got over 2 gallons of water out of the void and the carpet. There was just a little bit of water in the lowest part of the centerline bilge under the head of the bunk but somewhat more in the small trough to the port of centerline right next to the port rudder post that appears to extend forward under the A/C platform and the bunk. The cavity under the bunk was a little wet but not as much as the surrounding carpet. I pulled the stairs and the drawers to port. It was wet under the stairs but looked like it came through the carpet. The area behind the drawers was dry. No evidence of problems with the portlights or the escape window. I can't see or think of any ways for rainwater to get back there and am looking for ideas or to see if anyone else has had this variant of the wet carpet problem. Also looking for thoughts on whether I should go ahead and shrink-wrap and stay in the water or pull the boat.

I had each of the issues described in this thread on my 2004 390 MY. I replaced the city water plumbing last fall and the issue seemed to be resolved.

Had an instance of the carpet on the port side next to the bunk in the aft cabin being wet again several weeks ago. We had a driving Nor'easter which I believe could have resulted in some water intrusion along the rub rail. I cleaned and dried the carpet. Nothing further since the storm.

John, thanks. It seems obvious to me now that the rub rail may well be my problem but I hadn't thought of it until your post.
