I need to replace the batteries in my 2003 380 Dancer. I have 2 Port, 2 Starboard and 1 Generator battery. I was trying to determine which type to get. I'm thinking a starting battery for the generator for sure and deep cycles for the port and starboard batteries. Does that sound correct? The ones in there now are high performance starting batteries.

I just replaced mine with 5 Sears high performance AGM's lots of cranking power for starting. Don't mix your batteries, get five of the same type.

I replaced mine with 6 AGMs. Got the best price at Sams Club. I wouldn't mix them up either. I've used Marine batteries from Costco before trying out the much more expensive AGMs.

I bought 5 "General Purpose" batteries a couple of years ago. Maintenance is key. Keep them watered with distilled water. If they ever go dry, you've lost 1/2 of their life.

All the same kind, ok. So, all high cranking? Was gonna try the Duracell Group 27's from Batteries Plus.

Check out the Duracell's at Sam's. I got to Grp 31 Deep Cycle Lead Acid for $94 each several months ago. They had the AGMs, deep cycle, starting, and combination.

I have a golf cart that I had to buy 6 Trojans for $$$. I keep the water levels checked and topped off with distilled water. I plan on doing the same for the boat. Seems the battery charger "boils" the batteries on the golf cart. Not sure about the boat.

Did you have Group 27's and you went up to 31's? If so, I'm assuming they fit?

I had 1-Grp 27 house battery and went to 2-Grp 31s. I bought 1-new battery tray and the other one fit. The 31s are slightly tapered toward the bottom so the footprint mimics the Grp 27. At the same time, I got rid of the 20amp Guest charger and installed a new Promariner 1240P. I have watched and checked batteries twice/week for the first 2-months and could not be more pleased-no boil over and I really like my new system.
