How's it going everyone, Im looking to move into a larger cruiser, I was originally looking newer but I really like the styling of the 380 and 390 Sundancer's, I like the center stern walk-through for the 380 but I like the cabin of the 390 better. I see a lot of them with 8.1 V-drives and a couple with diesels. Does anyone with experience know how the gas motors hold up on such a large boat? Seems like they'd have to stay at a higher RPM for how heavy they are. Is it worth trying to find a diesel? I put about 75 hours per season on my engines and run probably five trips a summer that are roughly 90 miles each way.
Also I'm pretty sure I want 2008+ for the DTS controls but I'm not sure how reliable that system was in it's first year.
How do these boats handle 4-5 footers? I'm in Cape Cod and it frequently gets nasty sometimes en route to Martha's Vineyard/Nantucket. Any insight on these boats is appreciated!
And maybe more importantly... Does anyone have experience with both boats? Any significant advantages to one over the other or just preference?
