Hi all,

I recently have had a problem with my cockpit overhead lights. I have a 2006 38 DA and have had no electrical problems.

The overhead lights are out in the cockpit. The control panel breaker (pop up type) below the helm has tripped. When I reset the breaker, the lights work for less than a minute and are about 1/3 the brightness they should be before the breaker pops up again.

I assume there is a fault somewhere, but have no idea where to start looking. Any ideas? Thanks for your time.

Hello Jared
Have you singled out weak/bad breaker? If not, try hooking wire from tripping breaker to another breaker of same voltage and see if it still trips. Then I would take off the arch muffs that are at the bottom of each arch ( can be taken off and put on by hand ) and check for chaffage. This is also where the harness plugs are located. Hope this gets you going in the right direction.

Hi rogue, thanks for the reply. I've isolated the problem to a chaffed wire in the starboard harness. This is a bit beyond my capabilities so after all the July trips I'm having it taken care of by the experts, haha. I appreciate the help!
