36 Sedan Bridge Owners

Doc:

Having had a 260, 300, and the "sports car" 340 we finally went to a 36 SB in Fall of 2007. Best decision we ever made, love it! Also, when putting putting around from the raised Helm I can get a great view of the Express Cruisers up on plane spilling their wine.

Hey Don,

Thanks very much..I think I should be ok. I have found that Clarion does make a iPod/Aux cable for this particular unit but according to what I have read it isn't compatible with the iPod Touch. I'll just have to get down there and play around with it to figure out what my options are. I already know that there is an Aux port on the back of the unit that I will be able to plug in to. Only bad thing is that I would only be able to control the iPod standing there at the unit.

BTW - just emailed the docs to you.

Pat

Pat, I'm at boat every weekend, can probably check tomorrow if you need. Note, I had the Cable Addition so I can plug my IPOD in directly and control it from the Clarion itself, bridge controller and the rear transom controller. I do remember - pretty sure - there is a place on the front where you can simply use a male to male patch cable and use the Aux function.

you need anything else?

Pat,

I am pretty sure my 07 36DB has the CMD4 radio. I just ordered from Amazon the Clarion CCAIPOD CeNet Audio iPod Interface for 2007 and Up Source Units Marine Source Units M455A, M475, CMD4A, CMD5.

Regarding the Aux input, my TV's audio out is hooked into the Aux input on the radio.

Did your boat come with digital or analog TV's?

Thanks for the E-Plex files very helpful.

Kevin

Hey Kevin,

Thanks very much..I thought I had the CMD5 but I may be wrong..I'll have to double check.

That was the same cable I looked at but it doesn't appear to be compatible with the iPod Touch.

Came with analog TV's..Probably my first project will be to swap out the one in the salon.

Anyone know how to remove the panel the stereo is mounted in? I took the 6 screws out but it still doesn't want to move. I am trying to connect the ipod cable I just bought, but don't know how to get back there. I assume I can't take the radio out since it has a mounting lug in the back.

Do I open up the electrical breaker panel above the radio?

Any guidance from someone who has been there before is appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin:

I do know it comes out because a tech installed the IPOD option on mine. Check below (behind the wooden doors) to see if there is a connection. I can take a look at mine this weekend and get back to you if you haven't figured it out yet.

36 Sedan Bridge Owners poor radio reception

I have a 2008 36 sedan bridge with Clarion radio- I purchased the boat new in 2009 and it is still under warranty. I get very poor radio reception ,no matter where I am . I have a clock radio I keep on the boat and the reception is perfect-I have brought this to my dealers attention - He has talked to Searay and is getting the run around. Is anyone else having this problem with radio reception? Hoe should I handle this- I am very frustrated. You can call or simply reply to this post. Thanks, Mike Todd 541-913-6550

My bet is the crappy crimp connections on the antenna. Check the antenna end as well as the radio side and verify that the crimps are sound. I seem to recall Gary posting that he found many questionable crimps on his boat throughout the years.

I have had a very similar experience with my 08 330 - excuse my ignorance, but I didn't even know I had an antenna - I've got a gps, and glomex up on the radar arch - where would the antenna be???

Pat,

Just installed the cable and it works fine with the Touch, used it all weekend. Had to disconnect the 6 disk player to plug in the iPod cable.

Still couldn't get the panel out, had to take just the stereo out. Anyone know how to remove the entire panel that holds the stereo, 6 disc changer, antenna amp and DVD player? Need to run new wires for the new 23" Vizio LED TV and PS2.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi Guys,

Anyone ever thought about storing a Sea Doo PWC on the standard swim platform of a 36DB? I'm sure some mounts could be constructed, but would the platform hold the weight? And, how about a sort of davit system to get it up there? Anyone already go through this mental exercise or take it a step further?

The dinghy is fun and all, but...

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi Folks,

Does anyone have any input on removing the metal frame from the aft part of the bridge? This would be the frame that is supporting the canvas. I'm not sure if this is something standard or not, but I'm wondering if anyone out there that may have this frame if you've ever taken it off and if so, if it is easy or difficult.

It appears to attach to the boat in multiple locations - some with a single screw some with 2 screws. I am wondering if removing the one screw would allow it to come free or it is secured beyond the single screw. My goal is to remove the canvas and frame so this part of the bridge can be open. I'm looking in to having a custom cover made that can be easily taken down/restored.

I'm sure you're all saying, "well, did you make an attempt to remove the screw"? Well, this would be logical but unfortunately did not have a screwdriver with me.

Can someone tell me what the approx GPH is on a gas vs diesel for a 05-07 360DB? Also going along with that, what are the approx cruising speeds with each as well? Thanks for any feedback!
