I am looking to replace my 280DA with something larger. I am torn between the 340-350 . Can anyone out there can give
me an opinion on the postives and negatives between these boats Both i am looking at have the 8.1 engines with v-drives, Thanks

I think the new 350 is one of the nicer news designs in the mid range cruiser size for Sea Ray. That being said the 340 is a better value - in terms of price. On top of it you can find slightly used 340 Dancers under warranty with low low hours for almost half the price of a new 350. It's hard to justify a new boat given today's used values.

What I like about the 350 is:

Isolated shower.
Inclining Matress.
Swivel Helm seat.
Starboard sided entry.
Step through windshield.
Single glass panels in hull.
Partial hardtop.
Larger TV in Mid Stateroom.
Wood floor availability in cabin.
12" Chartplotter.

What I do not like:

Rumble seat (waste of space).
Over the Top Pricing.

I agree w/ Skolbe that there are far better used 340 values out there. In fact there are 06-07 38's that can be acquired cheaper than the 350. That of course puts you in a different league.

I traded my 350da in for a 36 sedan bridge. The decision was based on more space needed in the cabin versus us not enjoying the 350. The 350 is a beautiful boat, ours had the blue hull and really looked great on the water. The big plus for us when we decided over the 340 was the walk thru windshield and seperate shower area in the head. These 2 items alone set the 350 apart from the 340. Because of a screw up at searay I was able to purchase the 350 at the same price as the 340. This allowed me to move up to the 36 without getting hurt to much.

This may also help you because the boat is still available from Bassett in their rhode island office. I think they are looking for $269,000.00 for it. Considering it only has 60 hours on it and new would put you back about $300,000.00 it may be a nice option for you.

Let me know if you need a contact at bassett and I will put you in touch with the guy that handled the deal for me.

Another plus it has bow and stern thrusters.

Thanks,

Dan

Thats to Funny Dan that is the boat I am considering! Can you tell me about fuel consuption, ocean handling in rough water and cruising speed.
The items you mentioned were also the reason I am considering it.
thanks

Bob:

That is funny, I boat out of Deep river on the Ct. River.

If my memory is right I think I burned about 30 gph running around 25 mph. Top end speed was up around 37 mph. Fast fast fast boat. Cut through the water very nicely. I think you will find the gph to be a little higher on this boat versus the 340. They added some more weight to this model which brings the gph's up.

If you haven't looked at the boat yet it also has the following.

wood flooring in cabin

c120 with radar

Ipod station

hard top

Better yet I will send you a pm with spec sheet.

Thanks,

dan

Neither.

Looking at the specs from the link Pseudomind posted, the 350 has slightly more length and beam that my boat and weights significantly more than Just Ducky. She also has more horsepower and more deadrise. Basically, that means she's going to be even more piggish on fuel. If Obama doesn't keep screwing the economy, the price of oil should rebound to above $75/bbl. Perhaps well above that. Do you really want to burn 30-35 gallons of gas per hour? Same money will get you into a really nice 2003-2006 410DA or 420DA with diesel power. You'll burn less fuel and cheaper fuel. The diesel boat will also depreciate less, since someone else took the initial hit and diesels hold their value better here on the east coast.

If I knew 10 years ago what I know today, I would have skipped the 330DA and gone straight for either a diesel 380DA or 410DA. Learn from my mistake.

Best regards,
Frank

I agree, it cost me a ton of money to get to the 400db, I went through a 32' to a 38' to the 400db. I could have easily skipped those two and been much better off.
