I have a 7012 on my 2003 340. I moved the smart craft to where the c70 was and mounted the 7012 in front of my gauges. It's far enough forward that I can still see my gauges

I believe the helm is different on the 2003 do you have any pics of it installed?I have a 7012 on my 2003 340. I moved the smart craft to where the c70 was and mounted the 7012 in front of my gauges. It's far enough forward that I can still see my gauges
I have seen a few 5212 in our model 340 but the 7212 is a 1/4 bigger in each direction. Please posts pics if he can get it to fitTmth,
I will let you know about the installation after the weekend. The installer will be attempting to flush mount shortly. On you tube, under 2001 340 Sundancer, I saw a video for sellling the boat. In the video, it shows a Garmin 12 inch unit that has been flush mounted. Very tight, but it looks like it fits.

My starborad 8.1s Mercruiser in my 2006 340 Sundancer just failed me yesterday. I was returning from a short run (one that required more no-wake driving than on-plane). Just as I started to accelerate out of the no-wake zone, my alarm went off signalled "Limited Power". What had actually happened was my starboard engine had stopped. It started again, with difficulty, but failed again as soon as I tried to accelerate. After that it wouldn't start at all...and all the guages associated with the starboard engine are also dead. I don't even get the signature "beep" when I turn the ignition for that engine on. Its all just stopped. It made getting back to the Marina and parking the boat in the slip very interesting to say the least. I have a mechanic coming to look at it in the coming days, but wanted to know if anyone had any experience similar to this. I realize it could be range of problems, although temperature was normal, oil was normal...and I'd welcome hearing about any and all similar experiences so I can eliminate the possibilities one at a time. Thank you.
thanks,Tmth,
The installer of the 7212 is working on a way to get the unit flush mounted. You are correct, this unit is a little bigger than the 5212 that was you tube on the 340. He will have to cut into the portion of the dash below the area that the old C80 was installed. Widthwise it should be ok, but the length was the issue. I hope he will finish this week and will let you know after next weekend.

Yes please post pics,Tmth,
The installer completed the installation of the Garmin 7212 GPS on my 340. In order to get it flush mounted, he had to make a mounting plate to go over the old opening of the C80 unit. He used a piece of black "starboard?", about 1 1/2 inches thick, mounting it to the IP and then the GPS unit mounted to the board. I am not sure I like the look of the black board and think I may paint it to match the beige color of the dash. My wife likes the look of the black, saying it blends in with the color of the GPS unit?
i have some pictures of the installation, but I am not sure how I can post them to this message. I will try on a separate post. I see you are located in Macomb, MI. I am docked just south of Monroe, MI at Toledo Beach Marina. You are more than welcome to stop by to take a look at the installation.
