340 SUNDANCER THREAD

Has any one changed out the galley faucet ? If so what did you
use for a replacement ?? Mine keeps dripping and the manufacturer
said the ceramics can not be change . And of course this faucet is
discontinued ,I thought all faucets cartridges can be removed ???

which galley faucet?.....in the cabin or in the cockpit?.....I have changed the cockpit galley faucet.....very easy to do....

Does anyone know where the GFI is? I have no power on the outlets in the cabin and I think possibly the GFI tripped.
Thanks

The faucet in the cabin sink !!
The one I have is discontinued
so I also need a replacement

Home Depot. I replaced every faucet on my boat this winter, and sourced all of them at HD.

so the threaded cockpit sink, is the stardard and any normal one with threaded bottom will work i assume. pretty standard fittings.

I think you will find the sink is an odd size....I have read where people have replaced them with Stainless Steel sinks that were close in size but some modification to the counter and drain had to be made.....the faucet is pretty standard.....I replaced my faucet with a SS one but left the sink original and made a cover for it out of black plexiglass....it blends in well with the other upgrades I made to the cockpit galley....the faucet I used swivels front to back and turns side to side....this is handy if you need to sit something tall in the sink....

Scanvik makes some unique size sinks for marine. If you have any trouble with fittings for the faucet you can get seatech conversion fittings at defender.com

Thanks ?? The one I had was from ITC.
Looks like scanvik has one very close in looks and dimensions,
thanks for the help

if you want to post a link to the facet you used that would be great. sounds usefull. I just hate the short factory one. cant even wash out a yeti cup ha.

the stainless sinks look nice, but probably leave it white and just install nice taler facet, and I already swapped cupholders out.

Here it is: http://www.itc-marine.com/product/single-temperature-lever-handle-cockpit-faucet/ Also, I ended up installing an inline shut off valve below it so I could slow the flow down a bit as it went everywhere if someone turned it all the way on.

Starting to look at late 90's/2000's 330/340's. It's undoubtedly been discussed in this thread somewhere but what is the general consensus on the 2002-ish 340 with the 6.2's? Local owners have conflicting opinions varying from completely sufficient to way underpowered.

Normal load for us on our 290 is two adults, full fuel, full water and gear for two. We like to slow cruise, so minimal planing speed would be the goal no racing for us.

I know it's a loaded question just wondering if I should exclude the 6.2 boats from our search. There's a really nice one not far with that package.

had the same questions as you before buying my boat.....

maybe this thread will answer some of your questions....

http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/70013-2001-340-Sundancer-purchase-decision/page6

after a few years of ownership I have never regretted having the 6.2 engines.....they plane the boat easily and are easy on fuel when cocktail cruising.....but that fits our way of boating.....

I would take 6.2's in a heartbeat. I spend 90+% of our time cruising at cocktail speed, not on plane. Shoot, I'd be happy with 2.5L 4 cylinders if I could get them!

You'll save a bit of money on fuel and perhaps have more room in the engine room with 6.2's. It's a win-win in my opinion.

I personally was only looking for 454/496 boats. but I came from go fast world, and think this boat is slow no matter what. I also run on plane almost every time I take it out. 10miles to my normal spot.

My top speed with 8.1s is 41.8on gps... normal speed at 3500 is 27-28mph.

Thanks all, good insight. We do get on plane often for just short trips to an anchorage or beach but typically less than 10 miles round trip per day. For those with the 6.2's, what are you performance numbers? I'd be curious to hear your top speed, minimum planing speed/rpm, and cruise speed/rpm.

top speed around 30 -32 mph (GPS verified)......good cruising speed on plane is around 25 mph at around 4200 rpms (WOT rpm's is 5,200)......minimum planning speed around 22 mph at around 3800 rpm...the performance can be enhanced by enlarging the trim tabs....lots of posts dealing with this if interested.....

but these numbers will vary due to things such as condition of the hull, water conditions, weight of fluids, passengers, and 'stuff' in the boat, wind speed, canvas up or down, use of trim tabs.....etc.....

definitely not a speed boat but it is perfect for our use.....

Thanks Cliff, I also read through your other thread and there's some good info there. 3800-4200 sounds like a ton of rev's at first glance but its because I'm in a boat today that cruises at 25mph/2900 with sterndrives. The tradeoff of speed and fuel mileage to lower maintenance and better handling is something I'll gladly accept. This particular boat in question is just one of the cleaner examples I've found and we're early in the search, but based on our boating habits it sounds like the 6.2's will be just fine.

the 6.2's are high revving engines....and they sound 'sweet' when they are running hard.....I'm an old gear head and love the sound of strong engines earning their keep.....

the 6.2's were also offered in the new style 340's starting in mid 2003....they are a couple thousand lbs. heavier and have a different dead rise....the 6.2's might be border line in the newer style 340.....
