I have a 2001 340 Sundancer 6.2’s and it’s revving high when on plane, over 4200 rpm’s. I have 17L19 L-Cup NI NyTorq props and I’m thinking there to small. Can someone with the same type of boat tell me what size of props there running and the rpm’s. Thanks John

I'm curious John, what makes you think the RPMs are too high?

I don't have your boat but 4200 does not seem too high. What are the RPMs at wide open throttle (WOT)? Those are higher RPM motors than a standard GM small block. Mercruiser shows maximum WOT 5000-5400 RPMs The only way to know for sure is double-check your boat owner's manual for the proper WOT. With a boat that has 2-3 people on board and about half full water and fuel tanks, run the boat to WOT, trim it out for the maximum RPMs you can get and see where you are. Then get back to us and report the results. Caution: if you see the RPMs climbing above 5500 reduce speed and find a prop shop and report your findings to them

My 7.4's will roll over 4200 +/- WOT. How fast are you going at this point? Something in the 30 knots range? Or higher?

do you have V-drives or outdrives?......the WOT for my 6.2 engines with V-drives is around 5,200 rpms.......these small block engines are designed to rev higher than their big block counterparts to produce similar power.....
