Well, I visited the marina yesterday and had a look at the progress... They have begun grinding and let me warn you... If holes in a hull upset you, do not read further!!!

Okay, here are the set of before/during repair pictures as of yesterday. I'll call them "Keel, Lower Chine and Upper Chine":

Keel Damage, then the status of the grinding:

Lower Chine Damage:

Lower Chine Ground out so far... It's still "wet", but they've got a fan on it to help it dry out:

Upper Chine Damage (I didn't think this one was bad, but as it usually goes with grinding out to be sure, it was worse than expected:

So, the saga continues... The ground out area is all the way through the hull now, into the foam!

I'll update THIS thread moving forward...

I can empathize with you a bit, but trust me... He's learned (no - He is LEARNING) his lesson...

This guy is really a great person who just didn't know any better...

How many CEO's do you know of that you can just walk up to and shoot the breeze with like he's a "real person"... I could go on and on about what a nice, down to earth, good person he is, but you're right that it still doesn't excuse his negligence in this.

I have a feeling that once the repairs are done, he'll sell it. I don't see why he'd keep it. It's not like boat appreciate in value, so he's paying an annual slip fee for a boat that is (without me and my wife enjoying it), just sitting there costing $$.

Either he'll sell it or he'll decide to get more use out of it once the repairs are done, but knowing him the way I do, I bet he'll "cut his losses"...

Maybe since it's paid for, he'll just give it to me???:smt043

Wishful thinking!!!!

I hate it for him though. I am told that the first year he had it, he was there almost every weekend, hanging out at the dock with the "dock family", and really taking in the benefits of owning such a beautiful vessel, but work took over and the 240 took a back seat. Being a friend, I have to say he NEEDS what this vessel has to offer - A break from work, relaxation and lots of fun, but something tells me he won't take his claws out of the office... He was working YESTERDAY!!!

But, like some of us love fishing, boating and other hobbies, this guy loves the challenge that being the CEO gives him. I have to give it to him for that... It shows in my paycheck, that's for sure. He's very good at what he does and loves every minute of it.

We'll start a petition here on CSR that so states: Upon completion of the 340, the owner of said boat is required to sell said vessel to his good friend DukesFin for a minimum of 30% under wholesale value. (50% under would be better)

:thumbsup::smt038

The more new fiberglass and gelcoat, the better. Grind away all of that rot.
